Hi all,

Our daughter is coming up to 2 years old and i thought it would be a good idea to build her an electric landroveresque buggy, rather than buying an 'off the shelf' plastic thing from a shop. I'll upload a few pics of it so far. Your input and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Another update.

Been making a reduction drive for the steering to make it feel more realistic (2.5 turns lock to lock) and make it easier for little Florence to steer. The steering column will attach to the small sprocket and a pitman arm will come off the large sprocket. I've also got the bonnet stay and hinges in place!

Fantastic Dad. Not like me. I started to make a wooden rocking horse for my first daughter shortly after she was born.

She's comming home from University in Warsaw tomorrow, where she is studying to be a vet. I'd better get on and finish it soon before she gets married and has a daughter of her own!

Brilliant job .. but that small sprocket looks awfully small for a chain drive, I just wonder if it needs at least a couple more teeth or so. Just a thought, please ignore me if it sounds bolloccs ... ;)

I hear what your saying Paul. It's actually a front sprocket from a 40cc mini-moto so i figured if it can manage to pull an adult a long on one of those then it should manage the steering on the buggy; at least that's the theory!

Just another update on the buggy. Not much to report but I've managed to get some more done on the steering. Had a bit of a headache getting all the angles to work and keep enough axle articulation!

Hi all. Just a quick update on where i am with little Florence's buggy. Not much to report! My bro has 3d printed some light pedastals for the rear angle bodywork and I've managed to get hold of a brand neq hardy spicer rear diff/axle and turned up some spacers to make it the right width for the buggy. Just gotta make a cush drive sytem somehow to mate the motor to the axle. Oh and I've got some led front lights fitted. What with a new little son now here It's even slower progress now but all fun and games!!!

Really enjoying this build .. looking good .. ;)

Hi all, well i haven't been getting on very quickly with the build but i thought I'd post a couple of up to date pics of where i am with it so far. I took it for a test run and all seems pretty good, it's a little low geared so am now running 36v instead of 24. I'm really please with its ability, took into into the field and nothing stopped it!! Woohoo.

Hey thanks! Yes, going to work on a trailer when all it's finished as i have another set of wheels that i bought in error.

I was lucky, my dad built me and my bro an electric go-kart when i was a kid, about 40 years ago. I think i may have been the pre-cursor to the teslas!
