Need to play them at their own long game, rent or buy a house locally, stake out the movements and who goes where ... a sort of Class Action on your terms ...

In the current age of drones, it must be easier to case the gaff to see what motors are where ...

Turning up with 20 of your biggest friends might help persuade them to give keys and vehicles back to owners, might need trailers for some ...

When they phone the police, you say "we've come to collect our vehicles, we were told they said they can do no more to them" ...

Looks like the scammers are back.

Come on Jaspal you ugly ####. Tell us what's going on. You anorl Pritpal you ugly ****. What you up to?

Well it worked last time.

Not sure how long they have been doing this or if they're linked to the engine scam on the telly years ago. This fred is 5 years old.

I have just had a quote for an engine replacement from a company called AKV Engineering at
AKV Engineering Ltd 12-13 Kendal Business Park Stafford Park 6 Telford TF3 3AT so I thought I should check them out and came across this thread. Are they the same people and therefore do I need to avoid them?

You need to avoid dealing with any outfit that haven't been used by satisfied friends and or family... understand that and you won't go far wrong.

You have had a lucky escape. AKV Engineering is similar to a name they used on ebay previously, AKV Automotive. The Kendal Business Park TF3 3AT address is the same as the scammers address this fred is about. Previously of Wolverhampton Sunbeam Street. It's one of a number of locations they use to mistreat and rob people of their vehicle and/or money. If you do get yer vehicle back then the work will not have been done as promised, done to a poor standard or broken as they don't know how to fix it correctly or have given up because they're scum. Unfortunately this seems to be the only outcome which many hundreds of people have found out.

Another company struck oft from the same Telford address.

AS Automotive Trading Ltd

Arvin singh verdee
DOB october 1951

The same scum bag had another company:

Engine Rebuilds UK Limited

which is dissolved

address:
71 Richmond Road, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, WV3 9JH - last sold June 2022. Probably to hide where he now lives.

Which seems to have been blurred out on google maps.

Being a crap garage isn't a crime, you can't be prosecuted for it. They deny not releasing vehicles, claiming disagreement with the owner and refusal to pay the invoice meaning the vehicle is withheld.

l still can't believe it's been going on for so long and still no signs of it stopping. When you look at the man hours put into prosecuting people for minor offences, and this industrial scale garage outfit just keep going for decades.
lf they don't return your vehicle, or render it unserviceable, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. The rozzers won't do anything as they see it as a civil matter. And HMRC don't seem to be able to
act because the companies keep getting dissolved, which (if they are LTD) absolves the Directors from liability.
And Ombudsman etc seem to be chasing their tail, after dozens of complaints a court case is scheduled, put off, re scheduled, postponed and finally it happens but there's a slap on the wrist and non-custodial outcome and it just carries on.

The main issue is, they are just seen as a crap garage so it's difficult to pin a crime on it.

However they are not alone. Look at the litany of bad builders, roofers, etc and how hard it is to do anything about it, often reliant upon TV programmes to expose them. And then they confront the owner who covers his face and speeds off in a Range Rover or other large SUV.

And.....nothing really happens
They only accept payment without protection. No credit card means no protection. Simular for debit card but that has less comeback. Cash or bank transfer only. Hmrc is the tax man. Trading standards were taking them to court. I din't see the court case in the news. Has it completed?

Result.... well done and you are really lucky....
Hi to all followers of this thread. I'm a new member and bring a WARNING.

These scams are still going on. My beautiful 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography has languished for 10 months at Automotive Services/ Engineering Services / AKV Engineering at 12-13 Kendall Park, Telford. These thieves, having advertised on eBay (see later how "helpful"they are), collected my car to do an engine recondition, demanded GBP2,000 deposit and GBP4,250 for ghost parts - all sadly paid. Jas was full of promises but action - or even replies - almost non-existent (except when giving me bank details for Raj Mander and Mandip Pargania at Monzo Bank. Yes - alarm bells were ringing by now, but they already had my car. This is now with the Police and NFUM my "comprehensive" insurers who are currently trying to convince me this is a civil matter, not theft - even though their associated (civil) legal costs insurers and their appointed lawyers say it's a fraud! This is not over!

If anyone has had success via Police or insurers, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Now - as for e-Bay:
Before the above disaster my friendly local mechanic recommended a new engine in preference to a recondition. I accordingly bought one through eBay with right part numbers etc but it didn't fit due to the sump being different. Back to eBay to start the refund process - so far so good. Then thought we could swap sump from my engine so got vendor's agreement to do that without affecting his warranty and cancelled refund process. Then discovered other compatibility problems so went back to eBay to refund. No. You only get one chance! To be fair they say that if you stop a refund process you can't reactivate it but they don't say you can't start a new process for a different reason.

Having loved and driven Land Rovers and Range Rovers most of my life I'm now sadly switching brands - but I'll probably keep the two classics I still have at home!

I hope to hear form some of you!
