Thanks again for the good wishes guys.

Rosie and Mick - if you're near that area you may know some of the people I spoke to. Both Helm Park garage at Tow Law and Auto Services over in Stanley said that it's happening a bit too much at the moment, the word Helm Park used was 'epidemic.' Can only assume that they are being nicked to order. I spoke to too many people who had an incident of a LandRover known to them being stolen to become complacent that it couldn't happen to me again.
I'll be taking additional security measures from now on, I did have some but obviously not enough. Some friends of mine have been putting together some great ideas for covert security which I'll share here on the site once I've got a reasonable list and maybe some pics and how to's.

Thanks again folks, and tuck your LRs up in bed at night! :D

Thanks. I'll tell you how much of a relief when I get to see it greyhair :) Don't know at this stage how much damage and what, if anything is missing from the interior. Still waiting to hear back, they did say 2 or 3 days for CSI to go over it, but yes, enormous relief. Don't know if I said already but I was nearly as shocked to hear they'd found it as I was when I looked out the window and saw it was gone!
Still got to catch up on some sleep and at least a dozen more reassuring cups o' tea lol.

Thats fantastic news, started reading your thread and getting very angry for you, had cars and tools stole in the past, but read on to the good news. Hope they can get some prints or dna off the vechile and catch the bastids.:D:D:D

Cheers mick.
Well, quick update, I've now heard from the police three times today. First call was community section asking if I wanted to take on Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator as there isn't a NW in the area. Yup says I, can't turn down free cups o' tea at PACT meetings or the chance of creating 'interesting times' to live in for some of these scrotes that nick vehicles.
Cop that took my statement rang to say he's find out what the score was now for me, rang back and said CSI have just finished with it and the good news is that they have recovered some prints and 'chemical' elements. Dunno what that means but not very keen to think about it. However it also seems that there have been a number of thefts and I will now be contacted by a DC who is taking over investigation.
I've to make a list of what's missing once I get to the vehicle and let them know. If prints match anything on the database they will make a quick arrest.
Now for the bad news so far without even having seen it. There's a statutory charge of £200 (hear me turn the air blue at this point) for having had the vehicle recovered and £20 a day thereafter for storage. Turns out the storage depot chap is a member on here and is being very helpful so charges don't start till tomorrow. I also hope to have it recovered by a LR contact I was given who has offered assistance and is known in a very positive fashion by the depot owner which is a bonus. I hope that this chap may be able to store it for me as well as it's not fit to be kept outside the house at the moment. Door lock will have been knacked as they tried to get in and apparently the dash is wrecked and ignition wires are all hanging out. :( Depot owner confirms there is stuff in the back but they haven't emptied and inventoried it as they would normally do because it was a crime scene so some stuff there but dunno what yet nor whatever other damage may have been done when it was stuffed in the ditch or what they did that caused it to go off the road.
Just waiting now for chappie to get in touch to arrange recovery from depot. Ruddy nervous wreck!

glad you got it back and hope everything is ok for you shame about the £200 did they ask if you wanted it recovered I bet you could have drove it out or a few might have pulled it out these b------s do not think twice about ruining somebodies life .

Keep us posted Im sorry to hear your out of pocket...But £200 is far cheaper than buying a new one I guess.. Not the point I know but every cloud and all that..

Really pleased you've got your Landy back :), but I would keep your security arrangements to yourself ;)

Glad you got it back mate obvious it some little #### fancied a joy ride and didn't know that you can strip these for big money and dumped it! Hopefully they catch who did it and I hope the worse for them behind bars :)

I'd start at the garage that MOT'd it for you. It takes away all your trust in human nature when your pride and joy gets stolen, and the items in it are irreplaceable. Feel for you mate. Hope there's some good news for you soon.

Just read this thread. Glad you got it back Mate.
Causy Arch is only a couple of miles from me. Wonder if the thieves are local to this area too. First thing I do every morning is look out my window to make sure mine is still there.
If you need any help with anything give me a shout.

Haha! I do that too! And always feel a bit sick just before I look at my driveway...

I didn't realise there were so many people round here with defenders... :)

I'm definitely much more aware of where I leave my landy now... And always take the 2 mins to put my various locks on :)

Cheers guys.
border and Rosie, be sure I'll let you know if they find out who it is, and anyone else in the NE area.
Nigel, yep sound advice mate, ta. Just meant I'd share a few of the ideas and reviews of security gear once I've got myself sorted - some how to's for example on home made trackers but I won't be saying which, if any, of the loads of good ideas I've been given so far that I'll actually be using ;) Defo won't be any pics of 'em in my LR either! Would just like to share any good advice I've been given after all the good wishes and support I've received here.
