You mean you're sticking a wire from one fuse to the other? Is this a joke? The fuse has gone.

no pal not joking the fuse is fine check them all and all the earth s as well it"s the old 1986 fuse box on it the side light on the left side and light work and only the side light on the right so i brought the head lamp convestion kit for it .thinking it was just the bulb check all wires behind the lamp all seem to be fine as well then all off a sudden side light on left side goe"s out ( i checked the bulb) any ideas please thanks jim .

Ok so you're saying that when you bridge across the 2 fuses inside the car both lights work?
If so the problem must be there is no supply to the fuse that doesn't work.

You didnt use the intro section , and give no location , so where abouts are you as someone close might be able to assist , as trying to rectify wiring probs at a distance can be very trying , and seeing as you are just joining to ask a question might require more effort than some are prepared to expend :welcome2:

I had this problem on an old glass fuse box as every thing was oxidised up !! cured it with a set of new fuses and cleaned the brass/copper fuse holders up with emery cloth
