Jeep Grand Cherokee with limited slip diffs, 4 litre straight six was literally running rings around the Defender in the snow and is alot better, you can't call it a brick on wheels compared to the defender.

...i cant say I blame you...Jeeps are for p***ys.....kind of getting tired of pulling p***ys in Jeeps outta the same stuff I just sauntered thru with my Defender.....brick on wheels or not......snow is for p***ys too.....come to Africa.....

I really fancied a Grand Cherokee. But the Feds are currently considering a recall due to low speed impact explosions caused by their fuel tanks dangling under the rear bumper.
We have a lovely 2003 Land Cruiser Amazon but I don't connect emotionally with it. Fortunately, it costs nothing to maintain.
My RR is probably going to cost me a new battery and the hassle of re-setting alarms, codes and what nots as it has been sat for a whole week - and I only bought the thing last Wednesday! But I don't mind cos I love it!

Only signed up to say that pretty much Land rovers are crap, especially 110s.
Been helping doing a Defender 110 and they are the most stupid of vehicles you almost £26,00 on a brand new one and you basically get a second hand car they rot, slow and to be honest not good off road, this one got beaten by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Body Panels are bent and wavy when they came out the factory, the interior is Cramped for a large car, its noisy.
The ladder chassis just Rots.
The rear Brake Drums are for some stupid reason upside down and you have to take the Hub off to get the Springs back on.
The rear shoe adjusters come off a Mini !!
The Gearbox for no reason decides to make a noise for no reason.
The doors when you close them wobbly at the Top.
The sills just let water and mud in and Rot.
I just wanted to Slat you all that have the bizarre dream that you can't get any thing better.
-Toyota Land Cruiser more reliably, comfier, just as good off road.
-Jeep Grand Cherokee.
-Fiat Panda 4x4
-Unimog.
The Freelander is just as Crap, the Discovery and Range rover are also.

DaimlerChrysler is set to recall some 260,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to reports of breaking cooling fan blades and seat fires. The issue with the seats has so far apparently caused 32 Vehicle fires. The problem seems to be with some 112,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees 2003/2004 which came equipped with seat heaters. The problem is related to the passenger heat which has caused the fires.
Jeep Australia has yet to make an official announcement about the issue and whether or not the recall will also include Australian delivered Grand Cherokees. Response from Jeep Australia will be posted as soon as it becomes available

Bloke at work had a Grand Cherokee and was woken at 5am one morning with it on fire :doh: Fire crew said it wasnt arson and starter in the engine bay somewhere.

Had a Jeep cherokee before...Loved it to bits. Broke down at every opportunity with parts costing far more than equivalent landy parts - if you could even get them.
Simple jobs took ages due to bad design. Build quality was so so but the design.... when converted to a right hand drive Jeep failed to strengthen the chassis resulting in the steering box trying to fall off. The starter motor was surrounded by the exhaust manifold and almost completely enclosed, and the connection for the oil filter was designed at the wrong angle requiring an extension to be fitted adding another gasket, which leaked.
One day I will have another, when Im rich enough and dont need to rely on it to get to work.
For now ill stick with my land rover - not perfect but worth it
