hey guys im sat here with my series 3 with 200tdi engine(ithink) hes had a full service and other bits n bobs done this morning and engine is now running sweet.... but.... notice some banging while driving then looked underneith to find the front prop shaft has excessive play so i guess the bearings have gone, i need to get the landy from nottingham to lincoln today back home to mine, and theres only this now getting in the way :( can anyone point me in the right direction as to what i need to stop the propshaft play? is there a bearing kit or something? or is it just a new front prop shaft? or is it a new gearbox? im stuck please help !! thanks in advance

really take it off? does it just mean it will be front wheel drive ? is it really that possible + simple? what are UJ's ? bearings? thanks

Yeah just take if off. As series have select 4x4. Its only rwd on the road, front prop does nothing. You can get new uj's around 8 pound for 2.

Edit-uj's is the part that moves in the prop, search "how to change a uj" and all will be found.

no it won't be front wheel drive, it'll be rear wheel drive and the series has selectable rear wheel drive through the gearbox.

the uj is the universal joint and can be repaired or replaced with a kit.

good luck

search on here for a how to. :)

is this what i need guys ? should this stop the excessive play i thought it was bearings? sorry i dont sound very faithful im trying to take care of it to the best of my ability just could do with advice from u guys, i couldnt find a how to on changing these universal joints but if this is definatly what i need ill get it ordered now then gives me chance to study the how-to. again, thanks in advance!
