Since having a couple of changes at work (more miles to work and more branches to work with but no extra mileage paid) and not wanting to risk damaging my only vehicle while out laning/playing I started considering selling the 110 and buying a doozil repmobile and series for weekend fun but was a bit shocked at the price of current LRs.

Last time I looked a reasonable 200tdi 110 was fetching around 2-2.5k and a good one would fetch 3k+ but am i right in thinking i would be lucky to get around 1.5-2k if I put mine up now?

Its a 1989 110 CSW with defender 200tdi conversion and 88" van sides. solid but untidy since the cream van sides dont match the white body and there is a little rust in the tub cappings that could easily be fixed. I considered fixing it up and selling but thanks to a recent family problem that doesnt look like fixing itself any time soon I am struggling to find the time to get any work done. :(

If the 110 is only worth around 1.5-2k then i will most likely have to keep it but just wondering if anyone has sold/bought anything similar recently and what sort of figure did you sell/buy it for?

Well I thought Defender prices had gone through the roof, but that is based on when I was looking for another a few months ago.

Id say you have priced your car a litte low more like £2400-3000.

Recently bought my 110 csw for £2400 but needs new doors, but had lift kit, uprated arms, snorkel few other bits and bobs, genuine 200tdi though...

On ebay they seem to fetch atleast 1.5 with no tax mot and needing chassis work..

Agreed....(hopefully)
I am looking for 2.5k once mot'd. 1984 110 with Disco 200tdi :D

'84' 110 ran and drove ok 200 TDI engine no tax and mot last month up by me went for £550 i couldn't afford it sadly but looked like 1 bit of welding to replace 1 outrigger i checked eblag and reckon i could have got £1500 + without doing anything to it and an extra £500 with 12 months ticket

It all depends on condition - even needing cosmetics I think you might be pitching yours a bit low. If you do a 20 mile search on Autotrader and stop searching after 20 miles on a nearest first search on ebay you`ll get a better idea for your area - and bear in mind that most descriptions will be on the optimistic side.
If its 12 months MOT, no advisories, good 200 tdi, and solid chassis/bulkhead I think your range is about a thousand out but I`m in the soft south east. Then again that is where Defenders regularly go for more than equivalent age and condition Disco`s !

Well I've been looking for a project similar to yours, early pushbutton door 200TDi 90. The pure snotboxes which some people seem to think are worth 4 grand are way too numerous to list.

From what I can tell, 12 months MOT and a solid chassis is worth 2 grand alone regardless of the landy it's on. Nothing less than £2k is really up to much from what I've seen so 2.5k for yours doesn't sound unreasonable, more like a bit of a bargain TBH.

Take a look at this - snotty, grotty, busted, fubar'ed engine, 5 days to go and already at 600 quid. The bloke actually wants 1350 for it and it's gonna cost a grand to get working, another 500 to sort the interior........might as well buy something a lot better to start with. 2.5 - 3 grand gets a decent Defender but 2.5 seems to be the entry point. Below that are some shockingly ****e wrecks.
1990 LAND ROVER 90 DEFENDER 200 TDI, BLUE,T&T,VGC. | eBay UK

came up with prices after watching a few go on ebay, some ****ters picking up nearly 2k but then what appears to be good examples go for less. I know there seems to be a lot of folk bidding their own auctions up but it just looks like there isnt really a common price range any more.

Will try and explain mine and see what you lot honestly think.

1989 110 CSW with 160,000mls but not sure how many on new engine.
200tdi defender engine
88" van sides fitted to replace sliding side windows
285/75r16 Kumhos fitted to graphite powder coated wellers (25mm extra offset on front 2)
5 seater with cubby box but middle seat will go with it.
cloth seats (drivers seat split at the top but rest fine)
new rear x member, new drivers outrigger and bulkhead repairs oct 2010
MOT till Oct/Nov 2011 and 5 mths tax

door bottoms and tub cappings could do with repairing but simple enough to do if your handy with a welder. Also could do with painting as van sides do not match rest of body and it is over 20 years old.

stuff I have bought but not yet had chance to fit.

timing belt kit inc. dayco belt, tensioner, crankshaft seal & gaskets
filter service kit (mostly coopers)
bottom door seals, later defender style but was waiting to repair doors before fitting

also have a full half leather interior from a mk5 escort that was supposed to go in but again never had the time to size them up properly and fit them.

Simply put it wouldnt take a lot to make good but its more a time issue than anything else for me. I have the tools and the capability just not the time :(

Honest thoughts what I should be asking?

sounds ok most landys need some sort of work to finish but wot ever you do don't put a buy now of say 2.5k an bids as well just let people bid it up .. i think it will go for around 2-2300 prices have been good lately i thought about selling mine but i just don't have the hart to do it :D ive done that once before an was gutted :( once shes gone shes gone ;)

Sad you need to sell, but I'd give autotrader and/or gumtree a go rather than ebay.

Get some good photos and a new 12 month MOT and see what happens - pitching at a price that you're comfortable with and one that looks 'good value' against what else is advertised. TBH I'd be cautious about buying one with less than 6 months MOT to run.

You can review recent local sales in autotrader and pistonheads to give an idea of what is changing hands in your area - but from your description I'd be guessing somewhere between £2,200 and £2,400 would not be unrealistic - if you can hold off until the approaching winter you could get more!

Argh, why are you miles away? I would have been interested in her for the right price. Gutted about the distance!

Woody I wouldnt think Nottingham to Durham was that far for something that can be driven back. I have been looking around the net for a road legal series that I can use but all reasonable ones seem to be down south and would need to be trailered home. I know i would prob end up buying something needing work in my price range but if I dont need it every day for work then theres a lot less pressure to get jobs done.

Bumped into an old friend at the weekend who text me yesterday asking if it was up for sale too (maybe a sign ;) )

Have made a few decisions over the last few days, booked a couple of days off work at the end of the month so going to get a couple more parts and crack on (pointless doing the timing belt and not replacing the water pump while im there). The way I see it the more I get done the more it could fetch or the more I will decide its just better to keep it :p

if you look on ebay it will seem if you take it to bits and put spares or repair in the title it will fetch more????
ive seen absolute wrecks with the engine in the boot and rotten chassis going for around £1000-£1500 while auction ending within hours a landy with full mot all redy to go for only £500 more???????
what's that all about
why do muppets on ebay think if its broke it must be a bargain

so i wuddnt bother doing any mechanical work just stik the bits in a box and just tel em it needs work

I'm struggling to sell mine! Currently up at £4k for a '91. A bit more than usual, but the condition speaks for itself! Yet everyone is out for a cheap deal :/
