dose anyone know what type of paint land rover orignaly used to paint series 3 lr as i want to respray mine and i dont want to find out the hard way if it reacts with cellulose paint

will be respraying mine once all the mechanical issues are sorted its blue on the bottom with an off white top do you know the proper names of the colours and do u need any special primer as its ali not steel

i've always oversprayed landies with synthetic. never had ant reactions, apart from folks when they see the colours ;)

We have come a long way since the days of cellulose paint, and in my opinion modern day paints are a lot better and with the EU directive it is becoming a lot more difficult to obtain .Some places will no longer sell it to you direct.Even 2K is slowly becoming a thing of the past ,with everywhere leaning towards water based .
I've even known of vehicles that have been painted with B&Q/Tesco /Halfords and any tin from the garden shed with amazing results. It's a question of what type of paint is on there and what will cover it without any reactions.

acquaintance of mine swears by b&q paint with thinners and a bit of petrol in it....last one he did was a nice job, ordinary compressor, did it outside if I remember right

well i can safly sy its not a synthetic paint as cellulose dose not lift it, i sprayed a panel today with some cellulose just to see what would happen
