Firstly, these sorts of questions probably get asked by newbies ALL the time. End of the summer I'm looking to purchase a 110 station wagon as this fits in with my requirements and aims of taking time off from work and going for a 'little' drive.
From a bit of reading I've done it seems like bulkheads, checkplate cover rust are things to look out for. However, notice that a fair few examples have done way in excess of 100k miles. Should I be wildly put off by these and how much emphasis in the purchase process should mileage have when compared with condition of chassis etc.

My 90 has done 177k and runs great (touch wood). Chassis/bulkhead and the other big bits are the things to worry about ahead of mileage
 
Seems like the plan is to find one you like and stick with it. What do you think it the cut off in terms of price range - i.e. don't spend below £X otherwise you're just throwing good money after bad. My price range is about £6-7k
 
When I was on the lookout for my 110, I was more concerned with the chassis / body than mechanicals, unless your skilled in repairs,vi.e welding, chassis, bulkhead, out riggers etc.doors and panels, could far out weigh the cost of replacing an engine or gearbox.
6-7k I would have thought in this market at the moment, and at the end of the winter, where Landy's are in slightly less demand, i.e getting through the snow,helps the sale of them during the winter months, you would be looking at a better 300tdi or an early possibly crappy td5.
I also found a list of what you wanted was helpful, i.e I wanted a 110 hardtop,300tdi,no sunroofs, alpine windows,no white ones, etc.
As there are so many configurations, if I didn't have my list I just went around in circles.
My 97 reg 110 300tdi I eventually bought had 56k miles, however, my 98 reg 300tdi Disco has 205k miles, they both have oil changes every 6 months regardless of miles covered though.

Low mileage is more of a worry. More mileage means more use and probably more reliable. My 90 has 120k on the clock and it's only 10 years old so I was 'well-happy' to but it. The hardest part was finding one that hadn't been messed about with too much as I wanted a fairly standard 90.
