Hello All,:welcome2:

I am posting for a friend who is not internet savvy.

He has a 1998 Freelander 1.8, that the engine has gone on. Yes you've guessed it, its the head. The head has gone several times over the last 12 years and can't be skimmed any more. The last head was alu. The car is in immaculate condition and fully loaded, so seems a shame to junk it.

1. What we want to know, is what engine can we drop into the bay without having to make any adjustments?

2. What version/year engine can we drop in, that doesn't suffer from the blown head gasket problem?

Any help or further pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Rgds

MHM did give ya straight forward advice Rover 220 engine will fit.

My advice is Burn it!!!!:p

don't Steve Parker do a conversion kit ?

or just swap the drivetrain out for R380/LT etc ?

Apparently not - according to their web site.

We is talking a mono-cock Gaylander here - must conversions involve dumping a Gaylander body on a Disco chassis and drive train - dont think the OP is looking for that:eek:.
