Well as some if not most of you know my propshaft center bearings went on the propshaft...
I have sourceing some more, but in no rush to get it back on anyhow..
found some on Fleebay for less than £30 for a pair..Free P&P.. brilliant..
but i thought id ring the dealer for land rover today to see how much they were going to mug me for ..
wish i hadnt bothered.. i knew they would be abit more expensive than whats on ebay ..

I about had a heart attack when he told me the price.£84.84..ok..only to my shock horror.. not for the pair.. for EACH Bearing.. WTF .. i wanted to laugh at him.. so i politly said thank you but i can get them cheaper on the net .. only to be told they wouldnt be OEM quality ..and only only fail soon as i move off... LOL..

which i know full well ..is a load of a poo.. So I politly said I'd love to know he claims that ..when i know of alot people on here have used them with no know issues.. to which he hung up.. HOW RUDE..lol..

Cheapo ebay propshaft bearings have a reputation for lasting a few months if your lucky.

Oh right ... I was on the assumtion they last longer than that .. to what i have been told anyhow ..

Go for GKN and you should be fine but a bit more expensive.
Mind you I suspect a few early failures are also due to being fitted incorrectly,

If the LR main dealer supplied ones fail yer has a 1 year warranty covering them. It ses in the small print yer can return them via the window from 40 yards. Same applies to all parts supplied from LR main dealers... ;)

Rimmers - Genuine LR £97, OEM £49, Aftermarket £18. Pays your money and takes your choice Genuine is a rip off, Aftermarket will probably fall appart - so ....

Even better LR parts have a 2 year warranty and if they fail they'll cover the labour to replace them :)

I've had a year of replacing cheap bearings under warranty and when the last set failed just after the 12 month warranty was up I bit the bullet and have gone for Genuine LR - freelander is now quiet and smooth after 4 months since fitting.

Previous cheap ones hadn't lasted this long!

The outer rubber on mine has just started to go, ok at moment but will need doing in not to distant future, was quoted 90 +vat for gkn which it says on the ones on car and they have been there since day one thats 80000 miles.

Britpart are , as if anyone expected any differently - ****e. I haven't even bothered to fit them. They feel cheaply made and the rubber is so soft the bearings move around too freely for my liking. I bought a set of Bearmach bearings instead. Completely different. Much better quality.

Another question while in relations to the propshaft etc... i have noticed today i have some slight movement in the ird transfer box section at the front where it joins to the prop.. is this normal to have alittle play in it ..not even a 1/4 of a turn?

some rotational free play but no up down or side to side play

Ok will double check that tomorrow now.. just to make sure there is no other movement other than stated

+1 on this ^^^^^^
I fitted a pair of Bearmachs last year and have not had any problems, The rubber "Shell" is firmer.
Make sure that the space between the flingers and the bearing are well packed with grease-As per RAVE, it will help prevent ****e and water getting into the bearing.

Gotta wait a few days before i get paid again to afford the bearings.. and get a mate to fit it ..
as I dont have a the tools to do it myself..

...
May I ask how you get 2 years oft LR? Is this parts you buy from the parts dept and fit yerself or part of the used vehicle 2 year warranty when they change something?

Thats handy to know.
Brought LR PARTS DEPT last few months were a expansion tank in cap..
And a outlet coolant pipe.. so I take it they covered for two years aswell then..??
