Hi all, went into County LR the other day for oil filters and just out of curiosity I asked which oil they used.. The chap said " We've only ever run our td5s on 10/40" he told me not to use 5w30/40??

Cheers guys I no everyone probably have different opinions.. When my old man got his d2 last year the last garage to service his used 10/40 and it ran quieter than 5w30/40 so may try it myself next time round

it will run even quieter with 15W50 if that's important:( ... each on it's own thoug, what i said is that telling somebody to not put the recommended 5W... oil in a Td5 is not something to be respected at all

I use 5w/40 in my 2005 TD5.

The handbook says 10w/40 or 10w/50 are fine to use, although stipulating that it is only suitable down to zero deg C, and at temperatures below freezing to use 5w/...

.......told you not to use, or said you didn't need to use...? Rather different, and I'd be amazed if a LR dealer would tell you the former, while many of us do the latter...... Aint life confusing?!?!?!? A
