i have a leak from the oil pump and am sick of washing/rescuing all the fecking cormorants from underneath

Are they Shags or Cormorants?

I think they're Cormorants gobbing all the fish out of the ponds round here but they might be Shags.

Which are the white ones with blue eyes and a yellow crown?

:confused::confused::confused:

they are covered in oil  so can't really tell what colour they were and the washing powder i used makes them look orange

they do look fairly well shagged though so they may well be shags ;)

Wow , what a response to a perfectly civil and polite post . How very welcoming

Hmmm

What you don't seem to grasp is this is a site for land rover owners and those with an interest in land rovers , it's not a site for you to parachute into to promote your hotel so you can sell more beer and pies for a day then disappear

If you were a regular poster and had asked permission then you might have received the landyzone welcome response instead of the landyzone #### off response that you got.

Am I the only one who thinks you're all being a bit harsh here?

OK, the original poster is trying to win a little business. I don't see a problem with that. It's how the world works and I'd rather see the hotel in business in 12 months time rather than a block of flats bought out by greedy buy to let land lords.

The guy is offering what appears to me to be something legitimate to the Land Rover community. That's got to be a good thing, surely? You only need to look at auto jumbles and the likes to see that someone is behind it trying to run a business and earn a fine English pound or two.

I know most get flamed for in first post in the intro section and it's mandatory sport to have a pop, but I think folks genuinely don't realise the emphasis Landy Zoners place on this - most other forums it isn't quite as 'rigid', for want for a better word.

Just my thoughts :)

I agree.
however, the op only has 2 posts at this point, the first as you say, plugging his "do"
his second, having a mild dig at the responses he got from his first post, seeming like he didn't expect them.

I quite liked the idea of his "do", however his market research towards his audience, and lack of banter at the responses, makes me think "no ta, I'm out"
jmo.:bounce:

If he had a better attitude and had had even the briefest glance, he'd have realised POSTING ****E ON THE FIRST FRED AND THEN SPITTING THE DUMMY OUT ON THE SECOND. He would probably have had fewer sarcastic replies.
As it happens I noticed his pub last week when I drove past it at silly AM. ;)

I'm not sure that I agree. Imagine that this forum was a room full of Land Rover enthusiasts all happily having their own conversations, when a complete stranger bursts into the room and, without as much as an introduction, shouts over everyone else to say:

"HEY, YOU THERE! COME AND TELL ME YOUR NAME AND THE MAKE/MODEL OF YOUR PRIDE AND JOY!"

I think a "jog on, nob head" is the least that person could expect to hear!

Just me then

IMO the Op was polite aside from missing the intro section (which lots do to be fair, quite innocently). Nobody has to go or feel obliged to fire back sarcastic comments. Threads are there to be read if wanted or ignored if not desired or deemed irrelevant. I go on several other forums for different cars and other things too. I like Landy Zone lots, good banter and 'urine extracting' but find it's probably the most inhospitable forum I've seen towards newbies who forget the intro...it becomes an 'i'll have a pop at them too' thread, everyone joins in to take a shot and unsurprisingly the Op's are often surprised at the gunning down. I take points about the OP promoting an event but it is free to us, not like a spamming trader. He comes to the forum with something relevant and potentially interesting to the audience at no cost.

I'll get back in me box now! :)

I agree to a degree about the event which is why the thread wasn't deleted. Not worried about an intro too much myself but a polite enquiry about advertising an event would have gone a long way

It's got the green oval in the middle of the steering wheel and on the back door...
Plus the drivers door seal leaks, half the bushes are shagged and the front half shaft seal is dropping oil like the Exxon Valdez...

:D :D :D

Mmmm, from the description it definately sounds like a Land Rover to me. :D
