Just wondered if anyone else has had a problem with getting information from Jaguar Land rover Customer Services. I am looking at replacing my P38 with an l322. Having tracked down one I contacted the (non JLR) dealer to check as to whether the gearbox / front diff recall had been carried out. He said he didn't know so I asked him to forward me the VIN number so I could call JLR and find out. This he did.
When I contacted JLR and asked about the recall quoting the VIN and licence plate they refused to give me any information at all concerning the vehicle, quoting Data Protection! They would only talk to me if I was the current owner. I explained that I was not the owner and wasn't likely to be unless I could find out whether the recall had been done but it cut no ice, it was like communicating with a robot!
I explained several times that all i was interested in was the safety recall but they wouldn't budge! Anyone else had this problem? I think it ridiculous.
