I'll let mine go for £34950 with a spare military canvas and a quarter tank of diesel which is an even better bargain than neillys

Oh like that is it....................??:p:p....How much are you going to charge for the ferry off the Isle?

Cheers

Once the deal is done it's up to the new owner to get it off the island. I had a look and the Landy is £39 and a passenger £6.50 one way.

Bargain

I concede,

Yours is the better deal, ................So good in fact I am almost tempted................:D, If only I had room for a second Soft top 90.

Cheers

Welcome to the land of Loonyzone ~ you are clearly the right type of young nutter that the zone thrives on :D

It's difficult to disagree with anything the members have said in their responses, but it's your live, your dream, so live it here in the Zone:p. The only strict rule, is that you continually post images and updates as you progress. That way, we can all steel your good ideas and giggle at those we don't approve of! And, as a final thought, no red leather:eek: good luck with your project and welcome to the Loonyzone :p

So the defender is here!
Drove 200 miles without fault really... gears, brakes, engine seem very good. Obviously we dont have a reference point but they worked well!
Got back, ripped the carpets out and cleaned the engine bay a little... It did have a fair bit of oil... now i should be able to see where the leak is right?

So cosmetically there is work to be done.
Paint is crap but i knew that. The bulkheads and footwells look good!
Rot to seat box on one side so will get a new panel and pop rivet in!
Rot around the filler cap, is there a panel to replace this or is it a new tub?

Most worrying thing is the chassis! its waxyoiled so it was very hard to get at to see the proper state - the rear is showing rust. i really hope its salvageable, even just for 5 more years... as i haven't budgeted for a glav chassis but could replace further down the line.
First thing this weekend is to get this cleaned, any tips?
I was going to use Gunk Degreaser and a jet washer to get this cleanish... then i'll wire brush the hell out of it...

thanks,

Mother and daughter over the moon with this..... naaaaaaaat

Looks nice.

If you are thinking of removing the rear bulkhead , I would suggest against it if you are going to go for the soft top. It is useful to have so you can fit a fume curtain in the winter. Although I do like the extra legroom from having a bulkhead removal bar fitted a fume curtain would make things cosier in the winter.

If the little un is going in the car how are you going to fit the baby seat?

Product no. 216

Accidently press quote and you can't delete pictures annoying. I think I at least broke the picture :p:D
+1 for more bulkhead room. Way more comfy
Not sure about fume tarp
Fan looks far from cowling might be worth fitting leccy fan
You gana weld a rear quarter chassis?
Plus yes you can get fuel filler section to replace it

I've just been toying with the idea of putting a hood on my 90, but as I was looking at it the other day I realized that, like the white one above, it doesn't have the hook things on the tub to fasten the canvas to. I assume these are available to buy? If I recall, on my last soft top they were spot welded on? Could they be riveted? Anyone done this?.. thanks

Yes , rivet them on.

You can get them and the other bits you will find you need here

Yesterday i got the underseal waxy oil off - nasty job.

What made it worse is what i found underneath... Surprisingly the rear cross-member is decent.
However there is a small hole smaller than a 10p on the subframe rigger, drivers side - i really dont want to get a mobile welder out to sort...
Thick crust all over that took some scraping but still loads that wont budge, will wire wheel on my impact driver once the tub is off next week.
Does anyone have recommendations for treating, seen a few different remedies.
I was thinking corroless S primer and then corroless paint... sprayed on with my new compressor/gun.

Got all the arches off and wire brushed arches and degreased engine block - not a major step this weekend to say the least.

Roof, Back Door, Side Doors, Checker Plating and Genuine Mud Flaps on auction site to shift...

I have a WHOLE week off next week so plans are to remove tub, wirewheel the chassis within an inch of its life then hopefully prime/paint... then maybe break down the rear axel for refurb!

I dunno I its of any interest but this months LRM has an advert fro exmoor trim, £700 for all hood sticks and fixings and black hood with rear and side windows!

What I had put to the back of my mind is now re-awakened, I think I may go soft top!!

Anyone fancy a rear van body for a 90, fully soundproofed (roof and sides) , noise killer kit, big egg box stuff on the roof, and big noisekiller pads that fill the reveal panels on the side!!? :D :p

Not a bad price,

But do remember to add in the tailgate , seatbelt mounting point, plus if you aint got them the hood strap / rope tub fixing points.

Cheers

@neilly Yeah cheers dude, I had thought it might be included in the price, but I think that's more wishfull thinking than anything!

Where did you source rear tailgate and hooks for the tub if you don't mind me asking?

Obviously I didn't think tail gate would be included( but maybe the hooks for tie Dow points on tub)
