Does any one know if i can just pour new veg oil straight from the bottle into my 300 tdi and if so how much diesel should i mix with it. Like if i put 10 litres of new veg oil how many litres of diesel to get a good mix.
Thanks Carl.

I've been running my 300tdi on 50/50 veg oil/ diesel since June. I use new rapeseed svo which is thinner than sunflower oil. I put diesel in first and top up with svo, it takes about 50 miles on road (or 1 mile greenlaning!) to mix it up. Might be worth mixing with derv in jerry cans, but I've never bothered. When it's not mixed properly there is slight hesitance and a bit of smoke. When it's mixed you wouldn't notice the difference (apart from the smell and the quieter engine !). I went up to 70/30 svo/diesel but she didn't like it too much. I started by pouring in 9 litres in the ASDA car park and just kept upping it as I gained confidence. I'm going to back off the mix for winter, also you need to shop around for the best price. Steer clear of GM Soya Oil with E900 anti foaming agent!

As Busterbus says.... It'll say on the bottle. You usually only get the anti foaming agent in oil from the cash and carry cos it's meant for commercial fryers.

Not sure what the E900 (anti foaming agent) would do, but it's silicon based, I suspect that once the carbon atoms are burned off then SiO2 (sand) would be left behind in the engine. But then I'm no chemist!.... The GM soya oil apparently gums up the pistons. In the cash n carry, the GM soya oil with E900 is the cheapest stuff so it is tempting, but I'm not going to risk it! I stick with the pure rapeseed oil.
