Hi all

My landy decided not to start yesterday morning just a click from the relay behind the fuse box. On closer inspection the loom has melted together and the oil sender went pop and loads of smoke came from it.
Any ideas where I can get a new loom from?

Autosparks make looms but pricey imho.
 
I'd love to but I don't have the time working 7 days a week at the moment. I'd prefer a new one least I know it's right I need to stop dreaming about putting a 200tdi engine in it and fix what u have :(

Autosparks make what you need ! I don't think they are expensive. They employ over 40 people in a large unit, making looms for all sorts ! try buying a 50m roll of every colour of thinwall cable in a land rover loom and you will be over Autosparks price
 
Which bit of the loom melted together? The bit behind the fusebox?

My 2.5na loom went wobbly engine side - I just cut out the damaged bit and spliced in donor cable of the same colour I got from the breakers
 
The loom in the engine bay from the bulk head to the starter , alternator , oil sender , water sender , diesel cut off switch
It's beyond repair as it's been cut and bodged a few times and is seriously melted...I'd rather get a new one for piece of mind.
Off subject does anyone know a ruff price of a 300tdi engine conversion supply and fit?
 
I've sent my landy to my local garage to get everything fixed at once :) "inside out 4x4" oliver is always really helpful and has done loads of off road preparation to my father inlaws motor
 
I would avoid the breakers. The wiring harness on the 2.5 is a common failure, due to the assembly sitting next to the hot engine. Most of them eventually fail.

If you want to do a good job, Autosparks sells the harness for a reasonable price. If you think its too much money, check the price of a genuine LR harness, and you'll learn what ridiculous is.

The harness is only a few wires. If you're handy, you can change the bulkhead engine connector with your own waterproof automotive connector, and run your own wires from there. That would sully a good bulkhead harness though.

Autosparks has my vote on a vehicle worth keeping. Solder and roll your own otherwise.
