Apologies if this is in the wrong place, couldn't find anywhere about insurance.

Just wanted to let you know how good Lancaster have been sorting out insurance for my new toy.

Details

1993L V8i Disco with winch bumper, winch, rock sliders, 2" lift, snorkel etc

Fully comp with offroad/greenlaning covered. I am 34 living in RH14 with 10 years NCB currently used on another car and no convictions. This is the 3rd car in household and effectively has no NCB on it.

£211 with £50 excess :)

It did have to go to underwriters with the mods and I did have to get them to take of recovery which seems to be a standard add on, but I am well chuffed with that.

funny I tried to get em to quote me disco last year, no problems with the winch or winch bumper, ditto snorkel, but soon as i said steering guard they told me that they couldnt quote.
but at least they knew what the bits were, unlike some others:-
"Q:what performance enhancement does a snorkel bring?"
A: " you can get through deep water"
Q:"yes but what extra performance does it give?"
A:"nowt"
Q:"why fit it then?"
A:"I give up"

see if you feel the same if you have to cancel your policy.........
3 months and i got a solicitor involved at the end.

I had my old tvr insured with lancaster, sold it 3 months later and cancelled the insurance with no probs so I thought but now you've mentioned it I don't remember getting the refund :doh::doh:
Not that it was a lot after the cancelation fee

yeah, there is a cancelation fee, but there is with every insurer, I hope to keep this one a while!

now't to do with the money, they wouldn't cancel it unless i could prove i had alternative cover or that i had sold it.
just another way of getting cash out of ya:rolleyes:

Iv somthing wrong then £1500 to insure me thought id give them a try with my insurance needing renewal i only pay £400 the idiots

struggle to find reasonable insurance, everything is 1k + even fiesta's etc, no idea why
im 25
no ncb

1 crash

but lancaster offered me insurance for 380 on a 3.5 v8 stage one.

agree with trying to cancel it or change it over to another landy!,
I went from a 1987 110 van to a 1986 110 ex-mod van and they wanted to start another cover, as the vehicles were too different!!

I'm with Lancaster. Got a good quote (bout £200 fully comp with business use) and just got agreed value at £6,500.

That'll do me:D

Oddly, I got my factory alarm fixed but they said it made no difference to the quote:confused:

they cancelled my midget insurance no bother, i even got the right amount of money back, dated from when I rang up! All i did was say I'm having to cancel 'cos you won't insure my modifications and it was a painless 5 minute call.

While there's a Lancaster thread up I'll ask a question somebody will hopefully be able to answer.

In the process of rebuilding my 1991 Tdi Defender 90 that I bought last year. Did an online quote with Lancaster last September when I bought the motor and got a price of £220 fully comp which I was happy with. (22 years old, good postcode and full NCB)

Starting to wish I'd taken the policy out there and then instead of waiting till my renewal, as I've just put in the same details this year and they now want £500 quid!

Any ideas why the big price hike or is it just another year's gone by so it's all to do with the price of fish?

price has gone up due to that many dodgy claims been thrown about for whiplash.

So there hikin the prices to cover themselves.
