I am planning a visit to the Keswick area of the Lake District for a week at the end of the month, never been to the Lake District :)

There are so many places on the web to stay.

Any recommendations from the LZ members of good, decent places to stay in the Keswick area?

Help would be really appreciated.

Best place in the lakes. Great base for walking too and the best part.....wall to wall pubs! try the dog and gun if you like real ales.

i stayed at a campsite at patterdale which is next to ulswater. side farm it was called. Drove through a farm and up a track on the quiet side of the lake. Set up tent late at night and went to bed. Woke up the next morning with an awesome view across the lake which was about a stones throw away, beautifull blue sky blah blah blah

anyways its october now so i doubt you will be camping....

Did the same at Keswick, we woke up and were 20 yards from Derwent Water and had a full view, at ground level, down the lake. Glorious.

We've been back again and again.

Stayed just outside Penrith. Cheap place but lil far for commuting into the park everyday.

Was £350 for the week peak time.
