Heading up to the lakes for family holiday and hoping to sneak off for a mornings laning.
If anyone wants to join me, let me know.
Met up with Evil last time (Feb) and found some very pretty lanes, but I guess white stuff will be in short supply in August.

There might be 3 of us up for laning in the lakes next Sunday if you wanted to meet up let us no cheers

Make sure you do Breast high road, its a great byway and the views are fantastic, they have done some serious work up there now it sounds like its a very easy drive now but well worth it.

Unfortunately we are busy tomorrow and I'll be back to sunny and warm Essex the following Sunday.
Internet connection here is terrible so excuse the lack of replies.

Does anyone have a link to page with Cumbria TRO's.
James where is Breast high road?
If anyone knows of any good, legal lanes can you post or pm me with nearest village or os grid ref
Not interested in mud plugging, just nice, easy scenic routes which I can save onto MM. I. Can then divert onto when nearby. Would be happy to return the favour should you ever holiday in Essex or Suffolk.

Done a few lanes yesterday, started off in north lakes which included a visit to the old coach road, the hole has now been repaired (very well, credit were credit is due), the last section (traveled east to west) has suffered with water erosion. *Then in the afternoon we checked out a few local lanes to we're we are staying (south east lakes).*

I've said it before, but most local authorities could learn a lot from cumbria's management of the lanes. Loads of info on what lanes are open and colour coded to assist in identifying which lanes are easily damaged or have heavy use from other users. We drove the old coach road first thing to try and avoid the busy times, also went camouflaged to try and blend in ;)

Not on a lane, but close by and all worth investigating.

Back now from another great week in the Lakes.

Managed to squeeze in a few more lanes:

Also walked the Byway which crosses Grizedale Forest.
The western side has a very steep, rocky section with occasional steps.
This section was empty of walkers and cyclists, but I wouldn't want to meet one halfway through a climb.
Deciced not to drive it as I was on my own and I think the Kayak would have got chucked off

The remaining sections of the lane are very well maintained, but be warned there are hundreds of walkers and cyclists!
