Well yer!!

But i could buy and rebuild my P38 and still be quids in on initially buying a 'fender, lets be honest even wrecks are 6 grand up, and having to replace the chassis coz it snapped in half, and then replace the bulkhead becoz the window in the floor is a bit chilly in the winter! ;)
easier to replace the bulkhead than the passenger blend motor though :)

Welcome Aboard :)

1997 is a good year, given it is pre SVA, and 300 tdi is the best non electronic engine LR have made - eminently tunable too ;)

Also like the Collies - we have a working pair - one welsh and one blue merle border :)
I have a red. Should have been a worker , but she decided against that joke :)

If yer not into cars then ask someone who know's about tratters to go with yer to look at it. A 20 year old tratter will potentially be full of rust unless it's been well looked after. Prices and description vary quite a bit.

A wise Freelanderer once said "Never before has a vehicle been produced, which is so good to start with, that they need to carry out so many modifications to make it bearable to live with."

The originator of this ere fred may be a little surprised and upset at our comments but they're all given in jest and good nature. There's a lot of peep's who buy a tratter (square box thing made by Land Rover) only to find out it's peculiarities are not what they eggspected. Including the chassis and bulkhead being solid, or probably not.

Hi, all! Thank you for the advice and good banter! Happy to announce we have officially joined the community and found our perfect fit. We didn't pay full price, but I'm sure you all will still think us mad for paying higher for what is, yes, a tin biscuit box on wheels. Got emotionally attached to her story from the previous owners who had her for 20+ years, and fell in love with her overall condition and presentation (and smooth engine, quiet ride and cleanliness). Sometimes you can't really put a price on something that just feels and looks right. Looking to keep her mostly classic-looking and not make major cosmetic changes. She's immediately usable for weekend camping trips (once allowed, of course) and long drives to Scotland, Wales and beyond.

Our first purchases were beefy security and a dog guard.

Introducing "The Queen" (i.e. Queen Victoria, i.e. our first Land Rover, i.e. our forever adventure-mobile, i.e. our favorite Defender)

You'll see a peek of another Defender in the first picture...that one belongs to a friend and we were borrowing her for a while to help us decide between a 90 or 110

May I suggest that you beef up it's security as one of the first jobs. I can personally recommend a sky tag from somewhere like paddocks. And no I don't work for either company but when my defender was stolen I got it back in 25 minutes, some never see there's again...
