I have a 2011 Freelander Mk2 which is suffering from lack of Drive when warm in slow moving traffic
I have had many experts give me a vice as what needs replacing and so far after fuel filter egr valve and gearbox with a few thousand spent I am still in same problem
I can drive the mother continuously for many miles and no problem but as soon as the car idles in traffic when going to pull away I have no drive from throttle, I have to let car pull away slowly on tick over then apply throttle and it will then pick up speed once driving it’s fine, if I carry on driving it will seem to clear itself until the engine and gearbox idle at standstill
I have run full diagnosis on vehicle and no engine faults or transmission faults show on JLR software
I need help please

Hi, do you mean when you press the accelerator, the engine speed increases but you don't go faster? Or you press the accelerator and the engine remains at idle?

Mine does this occasionally but not inconvenient enough to do anything about it.
If I select drive straight after starting it won’t always take power. Think it’s to do with the ecu booting up. If I select park for a few seconds then back to drive all is fine. I also noticed the fuel gauge doesn’t work during this delay so just put my seatbelt on while it sorts itself. Always after startup don’t know if yours is the same?

it is a 2.2 diesel I have replaced fuel filter and even to the extreme as someone told me it was gearbox to replace that as well , it is fine when cold and also if driven from cold for many miles but if i stop when warm and engine idles in traffic when i go to pull away the throttle is none responsive i have to let car gradually pull away on tickover then i can gradually apply accelerator it then picks up fine but i have noticed that if i accelerate harder the gearbox holds on longer befroe changing gear ,then after driving constant for a few miles everything goes back to normal until i get in traffic again

no not had any problems with fuel gauge or the selecting of drive gearbox was fine and is still fine with new gearbox

If you manually select gears, does it have any problems?

When its sluggish when you pull away, if you put it into neutral then back to drive again, does the fault clear?

You say you have run full diagnostics over it. Was this with a main dealer system or something else?
