and i thought we had got rid of burkster
You got a problem with the z key on your keyboard.I can sell you a Japanese one if you like.Much more reliable than English ones.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

a decent/proper/real mechanic, isnt being paid for what he actually does. hes paid for knowing/solving the problem.

which is strange cause you would think that a main dealer mechanic would know his vehicles inside out, when in fact we all know that the indy landy guy is far better.
why is this?
i think its cause the main dealer types, mostly do basic servicing on up to 3 yr old cars. they rarely see any real problems. the guys working on 100/150k mileage cars see all the real problems.

ps, was talking to an old mate last night. hes a service manager at a small indy garage. he earns approx 50k a year with bonuses. but he generates 5k per week in work.

LIKE I SAID BEFORE. DID YOUR MOM DROP YOU ON YOUR HEAD AT BIRTH?.:p

If you honestly think that it is hard to understand how a car works you really must be a ****ing retard.

I bet you get scammed by every garage you go to because when they look at you all they can see is a ****ing great big stupid ****!!!!

UNDERSTANDING HOW A CAR WORKS IS NOT THAT EASY.
MODERN CARS HAVE THOUSANDS OF SENSORS, AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THAT CAN FAIL AND CAUSE ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS.
The mechanic has to be able to diagnoise the fault, find out what the faulty part is and then be able to strip down the car and put it back together without breaking anything.

As for you, talking bollocks, it seems to be an occupational hazard.
I am a fully qualified Electrical and Electronic Engineer (B-eng honours) with an NVQ LEVEL 3 in mechanical Engineering. I only use a garage when I dont have the equipment at home to fix the car myself.

If you are so clever then, Im sure that you could fix a Diesel engine,a petrol engine,a rotary engine, use a laptop with the apropriate software and diagnose a wiring fault.

Not everyone has a 25 year old bag of **** 110,that you can fix by hitting it with a hammer, some of us have cars that require modern diagnostic equipent to fix.

AS I KEEP ASKING, BUT YOU FIND IT HARD TO ANSWER.

DID YOUR MOM DROP YOU ON YOUR HEAD AT BIRTH?.

OH BUY THE WAY GRANTHAM IS A SMALL PLACE, AND IT WOUDNT TAKE LONG TO TRACK YOU DOWN AND DROP YOU ON YOUR HEAD AGAIN.

STOP TALKING BOLLOCKS YOU NOB.:D

Well, I was a bit suprised at the amount of posts on this thread that I started, it obviously is a subject close to peoples hearts and about which they hold strong views.

I have to say though that I am pretty disgusted at the level to which it seems to have degenerated, which includes verbal abuse and foul language. Whilst I myself am quite happy to swear on many occassions, a public forum would be one area where a bit of restraint might be appropriate.

Perhaps brookediamond and treev150 are the best of mates and this is just a bit of banter, but it doesn't come across as that.

Don't understand why the moderators haven't stepped in - so come on guys, less of the pointless, offensive abuse and more of the positive contribution.

If you want to behave like drunken louts on a friday night, do it somewhere else.

Well said

Yes you are 100% correct and i shall raise myself above the b###ocks that some people type on this forum.

Anyway getting back to your original comment.

I too think that landrover make far too much money of the backs of its loyal customers.
And in conclution MECHANICS ARE UNDER PAID.:)

bored, bored, bored.....

Sorry if a bit of banter is offensive to others, and Brookediamond chill out i was only taking the **** with the first comment as a bit of fun.

Also i am virtually qualified identically to you and understand fully what is involved in fixing old and new cars.

I just feel £30k is an acceptable salary for what they do. As i'm in Lincs it is generally a low paid area compared to other parts of England.

Unfortunatley there are more bad mechanics then there are good.

why is it that people that reckon the typed word is offensive not lets us enjoy wur friendly banter.. i find stuff like LOL and that bain of my life, ****s that say' basicially ' before they give you an indepth description a tad annoying but hey ho we're all different.

there plenty of other places that don't have naughty wurds and the like. so whats wrong with having one forum that gives a reprobates a bit of lee way?
