I had a couple of initial questions which I hope you can help me with.
I am a new L405 owner having initially purchased a 2014 model 3.0 diesel a month ago and then 'upgraded' it to the 4.4 TDV8 version - 2013 model.

The 3.0 diesel model had the Eco intelligent stop/start engine function but I can't find it on the 4.4 version. The button is not there where it should be. Do all L405s have this function?

The other question I had is that on the 4.4 version, when I turn the radio volume up or down, there is no volume indicator on the screen. Can this be rectified? There used to be one that appeared in the 3.0L version. Also the sat nav voice is male - can this be changed to the female one? Are software updates available for the Audio/TV/Nav system?

Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated as I'm slightly confused to have lost some features on the 4.4L Diesel. Maybe because its a 2013 model and not 2014? It is a Vogue SE as was the 3 L one.

Thanks

Thanks for the tag there TC :)

Welcome to the site Whybird. Mine is a 4.4 from 2017, where the infotainment hardware is very different to the 2013-16 cars. However, all Range Rovers of this era had the relevant software updated regularly, so it’s worth asking a dealer for an update to the final version for your car (it’s no longer being developed, sadly). It should need to be in the workshop for about 3 hours, but it’s parked up for most of that time, with a technician working for no more that half an hour, so be careful about how much they try and charge!
Not sure about the SS and when it was fitted; I seem to remember LR introducing it from around 2011, but only on their manual gearbox equipped cars at first. I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s no loss!
The 4.4 is one heck of an engine though

Perhaps the mods will take notice, there are more 405 owners out there, you may get your own category. ;):D My pleasure, regards.Stay safe.

AFAIK the stop start function was fitted on later models of the L405 TDV8 from Sept 2015 onwards. My friend has a April 2015 L405 TDV8 4.4 and that DOES NOT have stop start on it and most likely explains why it is £585 a year to tax compared to later models with SS and also the TDV6 3.0 which are only between £275 - £340 to tax which the later TDV8's are too.

In regards to the audio volume dial on the screen and changing the satnav voice from male to female you have to go into the cars audio settings and scroll through until you find those area's and then just set them to how you want them to be.
I was looking for the oil dipstick on my mates and they dont have one. Its all done via the steering wheel driver info controls. Strange but that's how it is on them. I love my mates L405 TDV8 so i might now look at getting one as my long search for a nice P38 has ended due to being let down too much so ive given up on the P38 search now.

Those L405's are massive though and full of tech which is nice. I drove my mates a few times and its super smooth i have to say. The best feature i like on his is the electric tow bar function. LOL. Really kool.

I have a L405 TDV6 and the stop start hardly ever works..... When the car is serviced that seems to spur it into action for a day or so and then it gives up. Apparently it needs something like 25 different parameters to be met before it will work properly. My driving conditions don't merit the stop start anyway so I've just given up on that.

Well my mate did have a tactical plan after all by letting me use his L405 Autobiography 4.4 SDV8. He has ordered a new one at the dealers which should arrive in a few months time so he has asked me if i want to buy his. I am seriously considering it albeit the £585 a year road tax band puts me off. Its a April 2015 - 15 plate so no STOP/START on it. If it were a September 2015 model it would have had the STOP/START on it and the road tax would have been only £340.
I have to say i am very tempted as he has totally looked after it and it has FULL SERVICE history main dealer and he extended the warranty on it too at the 3 year old point for another 3 years and its just run out. Apart from normal routine maintanance the car has been ultra reliable for him with no problems at all and its just clocked up 59k which is low for its age. Its just had a full 80k service done, 4 brand new tyres fitted last month and new Brembo discs/pads up front at same time so he DOES NOT skimp on it.
Maybe this could be what i need to finally put to bed all those horrid P38 experiences i had.
He is popping over again later today in it so i can have another long look at it and maybe just maybe i might buy it off him.

I would like to know how many on here own and run the later model L405's imparticular the 4.4 SDV8 model and their own experiences please of ownership.
Cheers in advance.

I had four rover p6's over a period of 5yrs... Never had any luck with any of them... Rusty, engine problems, bumped into.. Clutch issues.. I adore that model but just wasn't the car for me.... Maybe the 38' is that way for you @Enthusiastman? ;) but an l405, that's a different thing. :)
