Hi, I have a similar problem that a new battery couldn't fix. My rangie developed a flat battery problem early in Jan, when it was freezing, I just assumed it was the weather and bought a heavy duty booster pack. The problem got worse and the battery was fully discharging and was draining the booster, so I bought a new battery, the guys said they'd tested everything and couldn't find a problem. It all came to a head last Saturday when I had to jump start it in the morning and then again at night.
I took it back to the garage on Monday, they didn't get around to looking at until Tuesday and it started ok, left it there until Wednesday night and it started ok again. Tried it on Thursday, the remote key doesn't work anymore and I had to manually open the filler flap, but other than that it seemed ok. Started fine again this morning, but tonight the battery is totally flat and I am sitting in it waiting for the A A again! This time there is a constand clicking from behind the dash and the tiny red led on the 'p' gear indicator is flashing weakly. Has anyone got any idea what this problem is, any advice on a fix. Many thanks Phil ( freezing in Aberystwyth)
