Hello all

well where do i start ha ha

ive just bought a 2004 54 plate range rover vogue td6

when i bought the car the radio head unit was locked out all i had was a orange flashing light on the on/off/volume switch and a landrover logo on the touch screen head unit

after reading many many posts in relation to this i decided to strip down the n/s/r 1/4 panel where the entertainment modules are.....stripped everything out and checked all the pins and connectors which was all fine i then started to open all the units looking for water ingress/corrosion all was ok apart from the nokia i presume telephone module loads of corrosion inside due to water damage i have plugged everything back in ensuring the canbus lead was giving a signal out everything good ended up with a red canbus signal at the last point which should be the phone module i have looped the canbus here so that it is giving a signal back to the loop bypassing the phone module didnt want to plug this back in!!

I the popped the bonnet and removed both battery terminals holding them together for 20 mins ... Removed the three fuses in the n/s/f glovebox refitted battery terminals and replaced fuses bingo head unit came back to life which resulted in a big happy smile

i am getting sound from the radio but just a static crackling noise just like the noise you get when your radio isnt tuned in so i tuned radio to a few local station's and still nothing just the crackling static sound ......when i direct the touchscreen to cd changer it just says no cartridge but there is a cartridge in with cd's in ............i dont have a sat nav disc so cant try the nav (anyone no where i can get a cheap disc??) so does anyone have any info why im not getting any music and only static crackling

thanks everyone hope i havnt bored you all too much

Touchscreen didn't come in to the L322 until 2005, and cannot be retrofitted to the earlier models due the them using different Data Streams (CANBus pre 2005 and the MOST post 2005)

My guess is someone has put the touchscreen module in but then realised that it wouldn't work....

That is unless it is not a genuine L322 Touchscreen module - there have been retrofits using third party touchscreens (I think Hippo_2.0 has one).....

Take a look on fullfatrr.com for posts by a member called Joe90 - he is pretty clued up on retrofitted third party touchscreens, if yours isn't a standard L322 unit.

the no cartridge could simply it not sitting quite right.
I had this on mine.

Take the cartridge out, clean and replace. Mine works fine since.

regarding the rest....??

regards

Yep the 54 plates were the 2005 Model Year....just noticed your first post - you do say 54 plate...oops my bad!

DSP failed? If you had water in one unit, odds on it has got into others. Pins can corrode off completely and if all has been cleaned up it's hard to spot.

ok not sounding too thick i hope which is the DSP unit is this the most unit or the unit that says TMC or the unit that says HARMON KARDON ha ha ha ha im new too this car :confused::confused::

All the sound signals are routed through the DSP, the radio amp is the aerial amp.

Amp sounds like its working fine

Are you getting the hissing noise from the radio / fuzzy noise ?
If so, it just sounds like a problem with the aerial or aerial amp

yeah im just getting the hissing crackling noise and i can turn it up and down with the volume control is there any way of testing the aerial amp?? seen a few of these on ebay around £40 do they have to be the exact model number though ?? anyone know??..........;)

A hissing noise is typical of water damage to the DSP, analogue amplifier output stage working, input stage failed.

its more of a untuned radio noise...I can tune in to a local station but just the same sound.. is this the same datatek ??

Hi I have the same problem on my 55plate td6, the Bluetooth module is full of water!!!!! How did u manage to loop the can bus??

Whereabouts is the BT module? I didn't notice anything about it in the 'audio system' booklet. Imagine mine doesn't have it if can't see it, tho is an '06 vogue
