If its cranking its fully mobilised, they are very different in how they work compared to P38's.
Non starting on TD6's is usually down to low fuel pressure, often the low side electric pumps.(There are two) Also can be down to excessive injector leak back, faulty pressure control solenoids, failed high pressure pumps or even blocked filters.

really old thread but you never know, i had to get mine re synced each time after i disconnected the battery using the correct procedure by main dealer using testbook, once i took the car to the dealer on a trailer the second time they came out with a laptop and re entered the immobiliser code.

i really need to fit a new battery but dont want another £100 bill to get it re synced but i have searched the whole web to find another solution i can do myself, anyone ????

The only time I ever go to the main dealer is to have a new battery fitted and I cross my fingers that they have touched nothing else and it comes back with everything else working ok. Last time it cost about £120 including battery of course. And before pushing my luck I am about ready to pluck up courage to go back again before the battery gives up after 78,000 miles and 8 years of use

thanks for the reply, its the only time i have needed a main dealer, everything else i have done with help from friends and my trusty all comms
i wish i knew what it was, i have probably found 10 cases world wide over the net so wouldnt say its common

i wonder if its because the immobiliser ecu is under the centre console and mine as had a drink split down it from the cupholder above, before i purchased it, which meant i had to strip and clean the low ratio switch circuit board to make it work again.
its either that or one of the 12volt supplies, maybe the permanent one is not connected???

or even my battery is a bit shot......

Spoke too soon - td6 would not start yesterday - turns over fast - no messages on screen - on phone my mechanic says fuel pump - so does AA - being trailed to garage today - hope its not been vandalised in the meantime - very rural and quiet where its been left. Will post result.

Hi all - it is the fuel pump - does anyone know the precise code for it - some have a G prefix others don't - looked at DLS suppliers who quote a price from £35 to £125 or should I get one from Landrover at over £400.

Now fixed - was the fuel pump at rear offside wheelarch - got a genuine part in the end from Bearmach - £125 plus vat.

If you had got someone to tap the pump as you tried to start it, odds on it would have worked and you could have driven to garage. Just a little info for those TD6 owners who find themselves in the same situation.
