Hi , new to this and its my first thread so please be gentle,
I have a 2003 L322 with 60 000 miles , it has always been a bit slow to start since I bought it but in the last few months its got to just cranking over and over and sometimes starting and sometimes not starting .
If the battery is fully charged it will start for a day or so then not , I bought it a new battery when it started playing up ( Yuasa 110 ah 900 a ) and its still the same .
We've plugged it in tonight and its showing a code 0x09F6 unknown
We checked fuel pressures and they are High 31744 low is 400 kpi , which I think is ok ?
Volt meter read 14 volts with the engine running and everything switched on .
Tested battery unconnected and it read 100% once we connected it it was only 47%
I've checked the Park display light and it goes off once car is stopped after 20 mins or so and the fan motor stops buzzing .
Its doing my head in !!!
Can anyone help point me in any direction Please ?
Thanks

The diodes in the alternator are known to go causing the alternator to drain the battery when not running, you should be getting nearer 15v running under load, try disconnecting the live from the battery to alt at the alt, tape it up so it does not short and test the battery, hopefully it will read more than 47%
Is yours a Vogue spec as they take a bigger battery than most of the books say to fit .

Check for corrosion on earth points and battery terminals also. Battery size is very important but I would have thought it should stay in longer.. Others l322 ers will know better by all means. ;)

I had a 920a on a Vogue spec and when used daily it was fine, under the current lock down it is only getting very short trips every few days and was struggling a bit. I have now upgraded to a 1000a and a solar panel to keep it topped up. Rather than throwing the 18 month old 920a battery away I have put it in the boot and started a dual battery project.

Of course that may not be your only issue.

Sounds like either the battery is no good, Yuasa are not as good as the used to be, or there is something draining the battery. The battery is also on the small size. At 2K rpm you should have about 14.7 volts.
Worth trying a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine to rule out the earth strap from the engine to the chassis.

Earth strap, yes forgot about that, there have been a quite a few lately that have been very badly corroded all green and falling apart, left hand side of engine by or on engine mount.

Great thank you all for reply's I'll start trying the suggestions , It is a Vogue spec , What would you say is the best make of battery to buy now

MF31-1000 is the Battery I fitted from Battery Megastore, It was highly recommended by other members, sorry don't remember who but if you do a search on here there are a few threads about it. Just remember to put the bonnet up to service mode/angle for easier fitment.

Make is unimportant, so long as it is a proven make. Correct capacity and CCA is important.

Correct capacity & CCA by the book is the minimum, the more power the better on any RR.
Many well known brands have been sold off to private equity investors, Duracell and Varta for example. In the chase for payback profits, quality seems to have gone down the drain.
