Well i've done the filter and fluid change and all seems fine so far. Have to say filling it back up was the most challenging bit! Off on a longer than usual run next week, so will see if she still needs a chip or if she behaves :)

Good tohear mate

Easy really wasn't it ? Lol

How did you end up filling the box back up with new oil ?
Gear changes any smoother then ?

Gear changes were smooth before change but all the horror stories made me think it was wiser to do it before signs of trouble rather than after :) Only issue was my mechanic got covered in the sump oil
We used a funnel and some tubing in the end, from underneath. Had her up on the four post ramp so was slightly easier.

Oh well! It's bound to happen sooner or later from what I gather. Only just got mine. It's old and quite high mls but seems sound. Appears the g/box is a good place to start maintenance. Spoke to previous owner today, and he told me it had a recon box 2.5 yrs ago, (relieved) but could probably do w/ a service. Think the (td6) engine oil was done 7k ago, but wouldn't do it any harm... Surprised even w/ 138k, when booted it still doesn't kick out smoke. It is very thirsty tho, that's why was considering a chip.

If it is using lots of fuel, then I would get the injectors checked out first.

Good point! On a run it gets 27 but that's on a very light throttle easing off wherever poss. Around town is really just dependent on traffic - and the traffic is abysmal...

On a long run I can just squeeze 30mpg out of mine sticking to 65mph nursing it. That's an actual figure, the computer is saying 33mpg... Combined use I get around 24Mpg.

Be interesting if you do get a chip if it makes any difference.

You could use those magnets to help get a tow from the car in front. That would help o_O

That and other adverts like it should be illegal. It is plainly a con and cannot be true. But also like chipping for economy where the vendor offers improved power and torque with improved fuel economy, it is just not possible in everyday use. There are so many scammers about it is unreal.

The Golden Girl is still with me. I remembered shortly after my post in here that I didnt buy a RR to worry about minimal differences in mpg. I knew when I bought her she wasn't a fish and chips girl. Apart from which there are so many other things on them that will take your money, I wouldnt go looking for witch doctor cures, to save pennies that will cost pounds when they mess the veh up!

That sound marvellous Rob Might try a reset firstly in morning (as have to take dog to vets), and, did get a flat battery. Understand from a YouTube post: - there might even be a simple fix. Simple fix?!? Still, we live in hope... Be in touch mate, where bouts are you?

The lock to lock should reset the SAS (steering angle sensor) after a flat battery / disconnect. Good luck!

I'm 10 mins from A1 J10

Yay! :) Reset seems to have done trick. Disconnected battery, reset the SAS, drove for couple hrs and seems ok. It will sound strange possibly and of a Messianic nature, but the strange coincidences that occurred on the way to buy this car told me it was going to be a good car. I'm pleased for the helpful and friendly information received on here, particularly robhew, and wish all a happy and safe 5th November ;)
