Evening all.
My dad has seen a 2003 plate, 3 litre auto TD6 HSE auto for sale for 10k & is quite interested. It has covered 88000 miles & has FSH. Does anyone have any advise on the pros & cons of such a vehicle.
Thanks for looking & hope to hear some pearls of wisdom soon.

Have a search mate

Big list of potential problems.

Their great cars !

I have a 2002 TD6 HSE and I love it !

£10k sounds a bit steep though.

Biggest issue will be the gearbox - check that it has been refurbed or replaced, if it hasn't then it will most likely need doing soon....

look for rust on the rear wheel arches, behind the rear doors (what I mean is, open the doors to check!)

Message display will probably be missing lots of pixels unless that has been done

Other than that it is all the usual stuff - check everything works as it should!

Cheers

Jerry

As said above do a search. All the information you need is on this site and it's free for the taking, with just a little effort*. Wouldn't pay 10k for an HSE though.

* Just realised you've been a member almost a year so you probably know that

Many thanks for your replys fellas. I will pass on your views to him later. He is away on holiday at the moment & saw the vehicle in a dealers whilst driving around. He has no internet access in his caravan, so will advise him to search the forum for further info when he gets home at weekend.
All this range rover stuff is new to me. After 25 or more years with series landrovers, I have only just taken the plunge & bought a P38, v8 manual, & guess I may have started something with Dad too!

Hi, new on here myself having just acquired a 03 plate L322 I would say it is definitely overpriced. I looked at one myself on 03 with 83K miles, gearbox done recently and the guy was asking £8K. Was too noisy and slow for my needs so plumped for a 4.4 with gas.

Shouldn't be more than 8k for one in very good nick. My previous TD6 went for a little under that.

Service history and mileage count for nothing! Drive it, check everything works ok and if it's a dealer then get a list of everything that their warranty doesn't cover! Better still, get an indie with rangie knoweldge or a motor trade friend (as i did) to go and inspect it with you. Advice Worth paying for as it could save you thousands later on!

Steering wheel up down and in/out mechanism, Gearboxes, EAS and heating (FSR) are main probs when they occur but most issues can be easily fixed. I never had to spend anything on mine except for a EAS pump.

I bought mine unseen with 5 owners, no svce history and it never put a foot wrong. Hadn't towed and had been used in a gentle fashion My motor trade buddy told me. Great car and a perfect motorway car. Went to Europe and back several times and it was peerless! Also the most relaxed travel I have ever had.

Mpg will avge 25 so it may be worth getting V8 petrol as it is a nicer engine, costs c. £1,000 less and if your dad only does low mileage, it won't cost that much more.
