Help needed, my autobiography as deployable side steps but they are not working, is there a switch or something I have to do to get them to operate, thanks

Did they ever operate? Are there any error messages on the screen? Are you sure they are electric and not owner operated, if electric check fuses. Otherwise you may need diagnostics.

What does the owner's manual say about getting them to work?
Have you tried the obvious Google searches that get info like....
"Deployable side step operation

To force the steps to stay out regardless of the position of the doors, what LR call 'roof access and jacking mode' get in the vehicle and close the doors, quickly insert the key in the dash and turn to position two, then hold the switch for about five seconds until the light in the switch illuminates continuously then remove the key. The steps will now stay out regardless of the position of the doors unless you drive away or lock the vehicle at which point they will return to their normal function.

If the steps are working and you want to disable them: insert the key in the dash in position 1 and hold the switch whilst turning the key to position 2, the light in the switch will flash twice to confirm the system is now off. To turn the system on repeat the procedure but the light will now flash three times to confirm the system is now on."

Ok, I assume there isn't a button like this anywhere on the dashboard then? This is the button to operate deployable/foldable steps.

thanks for the help will check in the morning, not sure if they worked or not only had the car yesterday, and the hand book only says deploy before jacking, looked at a few videos but nothing on setting them, no mention in hand either on operation, thanks,

What age Range Rover? 2007 - 2012 had a separate switch, 2013 on were controlled via the touchscreen

Should deploy when car door is opened

thanks it's 2010, shall have a good look for the switch amongst all the others, thanks for the info. Rob

The switch is in the roof panel on the opposite side to the sunroof switch- from memory there is a sequence that you have to go through to initialise them but guess yours are done.
Make sure they are free to move and that they are not just crude up clean the mechanism. Do you have a 11d tool if so it comes up as a fault as it has its own ecu
which is mounted in the footwell.
