Hi Guys,
Well day one of Rangerover ownership has been a mixed bag. Made up with the car and think its ace but as i was driving out the dealers noticed the nav screen was blank. Reversed back and spoke with the guy. He replaced a load of fuses etc but no joy. The screen was working yesterday after coming back from having the power steering pump replaced. The screen has power as the eject button moves the screen to get to the casset slot but thats it. When pressing the button for phone you can see the screen change color but no graphics. Im getting no radio, cd or anything. Checked the nav computer in the back and when car is running there are no lights on the front, but if i press the eject button it will give me the CD back??????

Another strange thing is the interiour indicator lights arent working, but they are outside??????? I have checked the nav connections and everything seems ok and cant see any water ingress as its as dry as a witch's tit in the compartment.

The garage are coming to pic the car up on monday to fix the problem but just wondered if you guys could shed some light on the situation of a quick fix.

No doubt when i get in to drive home tomorrow she will have got over her mood and decided to make the screen work! Women hay!

Thanks in advance

Rob

Hi Rob

Sorry to hear your having a problem with your new Range Rover, ive just this evening done the MK4 sat nav upgrade along with the BM54 radio module replacement to get the AUX connection so I can plug my ipod or mp3 player in, I would defiantly recommend the upgrades its much better now. Ive got a small problem with mine too it seems to have a small leak, its leaking some type of pink fluid (just noticed the lower right area of the radiator looks wet so i need to investigate this, this weekend) its not a n oil as the spot on the floor has gone without leaving a stain, so it must be a water based liquid. On another note i reset my trip computer and was getting just over 25 miles per gallon at one point on the motorway, so i was much more pleased with that figure over the one from yesterday lol!! Thats good if your dealer is going to come and pic your car up to get it fixed! i had to go back to harrogate from manchester 3 times to get things fixed before i collected it! Good luck with your electrics issue

Matt
Where did you get the upgrades from and for how much?
Rob

Got the BM54 radio module and AUX input cable from BMW Bluetooth Retrofit Information think it was around £550 (comes from the united states but they seem to be a good trustworthy company) and got the MK4 sat nav unit from ebay about £350 ive got a website thats really useful (links on my works computer, will send it to you tomorrow) it allows you to check the part numbers and build dates to help you identify the units for sale on ebay (i found it really useful!) the units you have to fit are the BMW versions from the later BMW X5's and series 7 you cant use Land Rover/Range Rover versions as they are the old versions of the units and don't include the AUX facility etc.. Once you have installed the MK4 nav unit you got to put an upgrade cd in that upgrades the unit with all the range rover logos and facilities etc.. and you can download the latest 2010 high maps from the internet.

hi mat, the aux upgrade you bought with the bm54 radio for your ipod, where do you plug the aux cable in,is it the B plug on the radio, any chance of the link for that map down load..also just to add to the other post, i would check around your nav unit, the l322 are pron to damp in that corner, if it has been valeted with carpets ect it can get very damp there and will knock out the video, the radio will still work but no display.
i have to done the mk4 dvd nav upgrade along with the bmw ulf bluetooth.
thanks daveo

Hi desisle

Saw your post from earlier in year - i have the same problem with my 2003 RR vogue and wondered how your prob was rectified and how much it cost?

I came home from holiday to find a flat battery, charged it up on trickle over a few days and now everything is fine except no audio, no sat nav and no internal indicator lights (but exterior ok weirdly ??)

The cd changer will eject, and the screen will move to allow audio casette option, but no lights on or around the screen at all, and no sound. Have checked the rear compartment but no obvious signs of damp.

Have just had a baby so hoping its not an expensive problem !!
Any help would be much appreciated from you or anyone else in the know.

Lucky for me it didn't cost a penny to fix as was under warranty. However it took a while to find the problem so would have cost a bit. The way they sorted it was to pull fuse 49 I think. Anything satnav related and left it 10mins. Fuse back in an all the faults disappeared. They put it down to being on the forecort for a while and a low bat. My parking sensors wouldn't work in auto either. Had to manually turn them on. Hope it helps.
Good luck with the baby as well.
Rob

Thanks Rob
I'll give it a go when i get chance to remove 6 inches of white stuff off the RR !! Cheers, Steve

Hello Rob - you're a star!
I removed fuse 49 (checked it and it and was ok) - left it out for 10mins - replaced and everything was working fine (audio, sat nav, indicators etc) !!
Thanks again,
Steve

Glad it worked. The garage put it down to a low bat causing a conflict of errors Taking the fuse out just resets and clears the conflicts and away you go.

Hi Matt,

I am new to the Site and to RR's. I have a 2005RR with a touch screen. Is it possible to update the MAP discs on this to 2010 ? If so how do I do it ?
