Good afternoon Obi-Wan's!

My reversing camera has developed an issue over the last few months, where I just get a Black screen when selecting reverse, but sometimes, it will just start working especially if the car hits a rather spiteful pot-hole, or similar. Any links available as to a fix, or removal of these things?
I almost fell over at the price of an OEM part, so wondering if other alternatives are suitable for a plug and play replacement. It seems like a loose connection at the camera end, as if you drop the rear top gate down with a bit more force than needed, this shock will sometimes get it to work too....
Thanks all, Nick.

I had a similar issue which turned out to be water egress at the camera. You can take the guts out and put a cheap reversing camera in as I did, think it was about a tenner from eBay. You will have to cut and solder the ends and try and get one where the control connector which is a plastic part on the cable as far from the camera as possible as there isn't room for it in the camera housing. All doable though.

Thanks Lezley, I'll look into this.... there are some second hand one's on flea-bay for £70 which is way cheaper than a new one, but i'll look into this and compare the cost against a complete swap...

The original equipment RR camera is a pitifull design & stupidly expensive & badly made - at least until the much newer cars (>2010 ??)
They often fail due to bad connections between the internal circuit board & wiring. Sometimes the connections can be re-soldered, but they often don't last long before failing again
Have a look in the "Wiki" on the www.fullfatrr.com forum ref installing 1 of the £10 ebay specials - which are of at least equivalent quality to to the £200+ Land Rover part !
I swopped mine using the fullfatrr forum instructions a couple of years ago. Picture quality is as good as before and at the time it was only £7 !
Make sure you buy the correct spec camera - I think it has to be NTSC ONLY, NOT PAL. Switchable also allegedly doesn't work in an RR.
You even get the "benefit" of guiding lines on most. They can be disabled on some cameras buy cutting a specified wire if you don't want them.
