I can source the lamps just fine as I don't intend on facelifting it, and the first gen l322 headlamps are for sale everywhere, but my concern is.. is the LCM the same on halogen and xenon models, or would I need to recode mine.

Yep, Xenon blew and took out the entire vehicle diagnostic buses - never figured out how the blown xenon lamp did so much damage - but after 18 months, out of the blue, the diagnostics buses came back to life - but the 18 months in between meant that diagnostics on any system other than the engine was impossible.

On the LCM, it will need programming to reflect the changes I would guess.
