Will BMW E39 aftermarket DVD/sat nav head units "plug and play" into 2006 l322 HSE spec Range Rover. I know the dash has to come out and am quite happy to do this. Any feedback will be greatly received. Cheers

I know some of the boys have fitted units for the BMW X5 (E53) or 3 series (E46) on the earlier RR, but I think the audio system was upgraded to a fibre optic system around 2005 which I don't think is compatible with the BMW units

Ripped mine out and put in a android unit

Way better than any OEM kit

Looks really good. A few questions?
What year is your L322?
How are you dealing with the onboard computer functions like the clock setting?
Was it an 'easy' installation? Ie: plug and play or 'butchering' of original loom?:D
Looking at replacing my setup, so would be appreciative of any and all info?

Cheers.

its an 02 , but it can be fitted to any 02-05 is plug and play nearly lol
bit of cutting on the radio carrier, passenger seat out to run the cables in to the boot, 2 wire splices for the reversing cam and the lights on fader thingy.

I also fitted the D-TV and the dash cam but that was all removing trim etc. and creating some adapters so it can all go back to stock.

05> it can be fitted but you have to create a plug for the speakers to bypass the amp so I am told

forgot to add

FBH and the clock stop working , but I am looking to see if I can create an app to control them over BT and the elm 327 or the idd tool :)

No, unfortunately, post 2006 cars run on the MOST fibre optic system and are mainly Ford derived systems....the 2002-2005 L322's are BMW based are *could* be retrofitted with upgraded BMW tech from similar era...

I now know its a MOST system but am still struggling to find a replacement/upgrade
Please can anyone point me in the right direction

Re: L322 head unit upgrade
Fit an aftermarket amp and you can fit any head unit you want

Cheers hippo
So junk the H.K. MOST amp in the boot
Replace with new NON MOST amp
Replace head unit.
Better start my Xmas list then.
P.S. Any preference on amps??

Yep

Not sure what amp you'll need
But it will need the various component speaker outputs for the high med and low speakers
Might need two amps to get enough speaker channels
