So much for consumers direct. If the dealer sold it with undeclared problems they are liable.

I know what you mean, I had the same 'bun fight' with Stratstone's over my EAS ride height sensors. I was told that since there was no written record of me asking for them to keep the old ones, they weren't obliged to keep them.

When I then pointed out that they were in fact my property I was greeted with a 'Mmm yes, but...'.

I mean out of all of the garages in the UK how many people actually go in and come out without their (virtual) arse looking like a wizards sleeve and an odious smell of hot vaseline in the air.

What it sounds like is the air con fan running really slowly in the cabin as it starts running as soon as you unlock the car, same with the transmission light next to the P indicator on the centre console it comes on as soon as you unlock the car, but when i lock the car it takes 20-25 minutes for the light to go out. Dont think it to do with the engine fan as it does it even before the engine has been started i.e. as soon as i unlock the doors.

Matt,
DO NOT worry about that little Fan (It draws next to nothing in current) it is called an "Aspheric Motor" what it does is pull a TINY amount of air in from the cabin & blows it across a thermistor this temp reading is then fed to the HEVAC controls & is used to set your inside temperature It can run for up to 45 Mins AFTER you switch off & lock up (I had a Merc E Class & mine used to run fer hours) it wont be the cause of yer Battery drain...

Does your battery have a "DATE STAMP" on it .. be interesting to see just how old it really is !!!

Matt,

Just read through your post, the red park light should go out after 20 mins. My old Vogue had 3 different battery drains over the time I had it. The first being water getting into the sat nav unit in the rear, which was cured by stopping the slight water leak fromt eh rear quarter glass and replacing the sat nav player. The second was the wiring harness which leads from the HVAC up under the drivers side lower panel and the third and last drain was cured by fitting a new heater hedgehog thing as someone else posted earlier in this link.

That was a bast@rd to get at with my big hands, I think I have a replacement harness in the garage as the second and third drains were linked, I just disturbed the heater controller thing swapping the harness over which cured the fault temporarily. The harness I took out of mine was the upgraded one (same part number and identical to look at) but when I went back to LR the final time, the parts guy said the most common cause for battery drain was this heater controller. Fitted that and it was fine for the last 6 months I owned it.

You're welcome to have this harness off me if you like, I'm only up in Chorley so cant be a million miles from you. Just PM if you want it and I can show you where the heater controller lives. I know small things like battery drain and over heating can be frustrating but stick with it, their great cars when running right......he says with holding his breath.

my air suspension went up the swanny at weeekend so have to fix that now. Id get your supplying dealer to pay for the new parts and get a trusted independent to fit them.

Hi Mike

Thanks for the reply, thanks for the offer for the harness, how much would you be looking for it? Im doing what you suggested im getting the dealer to pay for the parts and have got a local independent to fit the new rad. Other than the problem with the rad and the flat battery its a great car!! im loving it, its exactly the spec and colour etc... i wanted! so think im gonna stick it out and hope and pray that i dont have any more real problems!

Thanks

Matt

just pm'd you Matt, dont want anything for it. its just gathering dust in the garage.

Mike

Thanks Mike! just in the middle of PM'ing you back but just wanted to double check that once you had changed the relay and harness on your rangie did the blower stop coming on (very quite and slow) as soon as you opened the doors? or is this normal. I dont want to waste your time if this a normal thing.

Cheers
matt

Perhaps you should also just check that you’re not getting mixed up with the E-box fan which circulates air through the large black plastic box up on the RH inner wing (next to the top of the suspension turret) which houses the engine and transmission ECUs. This fan draws air in from the passenger compartment so it can sometimes be heard when you’re sat in the car. If you lift the bonnet while you can hear the fan going & just put your ear to the top of the E-box to check if that’s where it is coming from.

Hi guys this is my first post in here ! I have the same issue with my 04 L322 3.0 diesel ! I replace final stage resistor and still have the problem ! 2 days and the battery drain to dead ! Battery is new ! Today i removed fused no 28 for the head light wipers but on my light there is no wipers installed maybe previous owner change them to newer version ! I was thinking tonight to remove the fuse of the satnav as i dont have the cd and im planning in the future to replace it with an android version as i have some lines on the screen too. If i remove the fuse of the satnav might help of solving the issue of the battery ? Then next step will be the harness if someone send me a link so i will buy the right one as i dont know where i get it! Thanks in advance
