Hi everyone, I'm new here but I have been reading through the forum for a few months now. I'm hoping some more seasoned L322 owners can help me here, and also maybe help others. I run a Porsche Dismantling business in N.I, and thus am not too shabby when it comes to wrenching. Having swapped my 4.5L Cayenne with an engine knock for an £800 L322 4.4 M62 (that I purchased without viewing haha!) I have been enjoying bringing it back to life.
It had not been MOT'd in 4 years and mostly required a few suspension arms, brake strip and clean the rear sills/arches cut out and repaired. Got all that sorted, loving the beast but the Air suspension is still holding me hostage. Its the green one in the picture, I bought the black one too as a parts vehicle.
Air Suspension Initial Symptoms & Repairs:
Sagging Front left corner
System errors cleared with cheap reader, and replaced air strut with a used and tested strut.
It was then stuck in off-road mode, infact much higher than off-road mode.
Next step:
Brought the vehicle to local JLR specialist who installed x2 new front height sensors. Unfortunately they could not get the vehicle to lower from the extreme height after an hour with the computer and handed it back to me as there were no errors other than a CANBUS error, which cleared and did not come back.
Next:
From my parts car, which had a working suspension I replaced the air compressor, valve block beside the tank, ecu, exhaust valve in the boot. For good measure I also drilled a hole in the conical filter on the compressor, even though as far as I am aware that is mostly required on later models.
None of that worked or made any difference. The vehicle still seems to love sitting up really high at the front and giving no errors.
Next:
I started using INPA to run diagnostics as if it were an E53 X5. Doing this, i have been able to clear the soft and hard codes and manually decrease the height of the vehicle, also measuring the height at each corner and calibrating it. I have it sitting at the standard height.
Unfortunately it still does not adjust correctly and still has problems going down at the front. It will go down when manually told to do so but very slow. The continued fault that comes up is the "too much enegy required for one regulation....front axle"
I know that is a lot to read, but all advice and tips appreciated.
