Your pumps worn out it needs sorting you have nothing to loose by taking it a part and putting in a new liner and seal if it is beyond you when its apart just buy another then play with the old one and if you manage it you have a spair:D
Actually thats not a bad idea. However will I be able to drive the car with the compressor removed for a day or two ?

That i do not know as i am not that up to speed on and l322 , but i think if the hieghts are ok and you lock them on the switchso it does not try and lower to motorway i cant see why not, but others will know more.
get the rebuild kit and watch a few vids which must be about on line before you start then give it a go just take your time, normally sit at dining table mut of tea and of you go followed with something stronger when its done:D

With the compressor removed the car will stay up, how long I don’t know. If you did drive it a lot you may end up on bump stops, and as a few know it’s not a comfortable ride.

Changing and rebuilding only took me a morning todo. You already have a spare so why not rebuild that then swap?
It’s not a difficult job, just take pics as you go and lay things out as they come apart.

Graham, the rebuild is really easy on the l322 pump (in fact easier than the p38 pump).
  • Remove the 8mm pipe that goes from just below the head to to the inlet port area.
  • Remove the two torx screws holding the head down. (the head & dryer assembly comes off as complete unit)
  • Look at the old piston ring so you know which way it goes. Then remove the ring.
  • Carefully place the new ring onto the piston. Make sure the split sits evenly over the small pin in the groove.
  • Change the o-ring on the head.
  • Place head over the piston & push it down. (The head is tapered, so it slides easily onto the piston.)
  • Fit the two torx screw, and replace the 8mm air pipe.
If you want, bring it to Langley with the kit, and I could help you do it. (and bench test it)
