hi folks has anyone came accross this . rangerover l322 03 vogue air sus inactive after 10 miles on motorway perfect everywhere else if ignition swiched off and restarted air susp works fine stays up all night no problem any ideas ?:scratching_chin:

So are you still getting the fault or did it clear after you restarted??

My Vogue has just come up saying the same thing! I stopped to let someone out so pressed the button to lower it down and that was fine (it was an elderly lady i wouldn't normally bother!) and when i drove off up the road i got the fault!

thanks for the reply yes fault cleared no probs works perfect only seems to do it on motorway after 10 miles or so otherwise seems perfect mabe ecu glitch just a bit annoying

I had mine plugged in today and it just had a CanBus fault which was cleared.

Ill prob get shot down by the pro's here but for yours it could be one of the height sensors. As your car goes along the road each sensor monitors the height and adjusts it constantly. If one of those has an intermittent fault it could throw up the occasional soft fault but resets itself when you stop.

Take it into a local garage and ask the to read the fault codes and see what's stored. That's what I did and they only charged me £25 and checked All the systems for faults.

Could well be a height sensor as your RR will run at a lower height on the motorway. get the faults read, if it need a new sensor it will need calibrating.

thanks for that makes a lot of sence i dont suppose running it like that would do any harm ? never does it even when lowering susp

Probably not if its not keeping the fault but just be prepared that at some point the part occasionally failing will fail completely and will then register a hard fault.

hi just been on holiday towing caravan 2 tonne hobby lots of miles with and without van no air susp faults whatsoever however my gearbox decided it likes 3rd gear and did not want to change up while towing van no probs without i did 100 miles in 3rd at 50mph 3000rpm no funny noises no trans overheat message my car has been lpg coverted wonder if it runs a bit hotter than on petrol if i stopped for 10mins gearbox worked fine until we hit a hill at which point she changed down and up a few times then locked in 3rd anyone had this problem?

Don't like the sound of that much! Has it happened again since? It might have a fault stored if you can get it plugged in somewhere?

hi has not happened again it has behaved itself since however i have not towed with her for a couple of months i have done about 1.5 k since never missed a beat had to replace expansion tank had a couple of air locks since replacing tank dont know why. temp normal now. last refill and bleed 600 miles ago thinking water prob causing lack of coolant for gearbox ?car running great engine management light has came on . seems a common thing with lpg conversion am running her on petrol for a while see if cures it

Fingers crossed it was just a one off then. I would recommend getting yourself the RSW AllComms thought. I got myself one and bought a cheap net book from EBay for £30 quid. It's a great bit of kit and you can see where the faults are if any.

I've been through a lot of suspension stuff with my Rangie. Really you need to get fault codes read 1st.
I have a hawkeye for petrol Range rover if any one is near me. I had to fit a new compressor at 70,000 miles as I was getting a 'pressure static when filling fault'
If the pump runs for quite a while then the cluster lights show a hard fault ... and you have reasonable milage then it could be the pump on it's way out.
Only way of being sure is getting fault codes read though.

Sounds like your gearbox was in cooling mode. It will hold gears to get high volume trans fluid flow through the box. Keep an eye on it. If it keeps happening it usually means a new rad required as the bottom section of the rad is the trans cooler and it tends to block up.

My air suspension had the same fault but on mine the back end dropped so looks like I need to replace the valve block for the rear. If I leave it over night it sorts itself out so think the piston is sticking open in the block.

As for the rad thing I have learnt something new today.

Get under there with a spray bottle full of soapy water. It's worth spraying around the tops and bottoms of the air bags. Also the air feed to the bags. I've had both the VOSS connector and the metal crimp around the bag leak before. The soapy water shows it up straight away.
If it's in the Valve block it's a bit more difficult. Normally the l322 valve blocks are pretty good though. If both bags at the rear are going down it could be the crosslinking valve leaking. More likely a connector.

Yeah done that I have no leaks. It only occurs if the car has to rise and fall a few times like using access mode or short runs on dual carriage ways then a slower road then another dual carriage way. I'm getting a good supply from the pump with no leaks just a valve getting stuck open and then eventually closing when it feels like it.

If I lock height to stop it adjusting it don't happen so I assume pressing the hold button on the dash stops the valves opening and closing automatically.
