Hi
Started three days ago going around corners at low speeds i have this knock in the front wheels or around that area.
I have read reports of 03 & 04 range rovers with a diff problem.
Anyone had this had or heard of this problem.

It could be early signs of diff failure if its like a sort of loud clicking noise. A knocking is usually caused by loose anti roll bar clamps or worn antiroll bar links (or both).

In the last year I have had the front diff/prop changed due to the knocking noise, also had the front suspension strut and steering rack changed due to knocking. All this was done under LR extended warranty.

Suggest you get it checked for the above.

Also as mentioned could be the roll bars.

Thanks for the reply
RR is being looked at on Tuesday will post the result
The knocking happens when i hit a lump in the road or when i turn to the right
and the knock is one loud knock and sometimes 2 when i hit a lump

That sounds similar to the noise I had which was sorted by changing the steering rack.

Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle and cost

Hi

Just had same thing on my 03 TD6, turned out it was the off side lower ball joint arm. Main dealer changed it, £122 for the part, labour and VAT.

Keep me posted I have a very slight knock from the front of my 2003 td6.

Today I found out what the clicking and and knocking was on my TD6. On my home from Newcastle on the A19 at around 65mph I heard a loud clicking and then a very high pitched metallic scream, then I lost all drive and stumbled in a layby. After a quick check from the AA man he said the diff was shot.
So I had it recovered to my local stealers and I have got my chequebook on red alert:mad: .

Happy days:(

The scream means the splines are totally gone, early signs are a loud click when going from reverse to drive and vise versa.

Am I right in assuming that the splines refered to are where the front driveshaft goes into the diff. and checking would be a matter of removing the driveshaft to inspect? This will have to go onto my list of "things to do",

Just received my RR back from the garage. It has had a new diff, front propshaft and a bracket?? I managed to get all the work carried out under my warrenty, which was nice. I have also been informed that the o/s lower ball joint is worn to excess, so I have booked it back in to get that replaced. Fingers crossed I should have knock free front end.

Hi
had the bush replaced 180 miles later the knocks back
i asked the garage and they said it could be the bolt to the bush
as the hole in the bush is not round its groved and the bolt is a landrover bolt and it has thread end to end and no shoulder to it and that could be the problem any thoughts
thanks Dave
