Hi, just bought a 2006 l320 sport and am thinking about getting a towbar fitted but have no idea what I need or the cost.
I've added a pic to show what is there already so could someone point me in the right direction please?

Thank you.

was looking to fitting one to mine local indy 4x4 garage gave me two quotes one for a detachable tow bar nd both the 7 or 13 pin and one for a fixed tow bar
prices varies from 500-800 quid fitted

That's the actual bit the removable towbar slots into, no hange of that with that much rust.
You need to go after market visit a specialist company

was told by local specialists the detachable tow bar is ok for small trailers
when I explained I wanted to tow a horse box they suggested the fixed towbar as the detachable ones can get worn and move a little

Plus 1 ref a fixed tow bar, there was also a recall on the ones that slot in, don’t know if there still doing an update but heard of some getting a fixed tow bar or the complete replacement of the rear crossmember FOC ,the risk was the slot in ones falling out, another thing is never to leave them in as they get nicked

so would be worth calling a dealer and give them ur vin number as they may still be doing the recall on tow bars

There have been cases on the disco of the detachable hitch detaching whist towing, in one case it was a horse box.

I'd personally use the detachable tow bar, as the RRS and D3/4 looks hideous with the ugly permanent bar fitted, as also really hampers off road ability.
My D3 went in to LR for a tow bar assessment, and had a replacement rear chassis member installed to secure the removable bar better.
They offered a permanent bar as an option to be fitted in a few days, or I had to wait for 4 weeks for the body shop to have space to carry out the work.
