Latest issue with the L series. Starter not turning over.
Immobiliser light is off, locked and relocked car. Red light goes on and then back off.
Tapped starter motor with medium size Tonya Harding and drift bar. Nothing.
Checked relays under steering wheel, swapped a few around, could feel relay clicking over, nothing.

Anything else I can check before pulling the starter motor? I'll get in with the meter tomorrow and check the solenoid is getting power just in case.

When mine failed the starter had worn out.

It started failing randomly, and this cause spikes in power that confused the CCU which caused it to be immobilised. Disconnected battery for a while, and reconnected which cleared the CCU problems and would start again. But it got worse and as well as the starting problems I was worried it would fry the electronics.

So I replaced the starter motor. It was cheap enough to not worry about rebuilding the existing 1.

Dunno if that's you're problem - just my experience.

Check you're getting power to the starter first on the thinner wire.
Just be aware starter may turn over so not in gear!
