took out the ignition coil tested resistance over 12V connection it reads 2,6 Ohm is that ok?
to be sure i ordered a new one will be in tomorow (I Hope).

Just a thought. Have you made sure the impact sensor hasn't got triggered?

Ok.

It's behaviour is like the engine ECU isn't getting the correct run code from the immobilizer. It's difficult to check this however, without the correct diagnostic equipment.
 
Nodge, I was thinking about the same two things: the impact inertia switch (press the button on the top to reset) or an immobiliser fault.

Clearly the engine is initially getting fuel and spark in order to start. The question is whether the fuel supply is cut or whether the ignition is cut.

A blocked fuel filter could be one cause: just enough fuel to get the engine started, but not enough flow to keep it running. I wonder when your fuel filter was last changed?
To check the ignition, it would interesting to see whether the plugs are still sparking. There are some simple bits of kit that show when the spark plugs are firing and may be worth looking at. But do look at the rotor arm and the condition of the distributor cap - and of course the ignition leads themselves. None of these last forever, and it is worth replacing with OEM MG Rover or Land Rover parts (the aftermarket stuff is generally of extremely low quality).
 
I have exchanged the fuelpump because I found debry in th housing one day after I had cleaned it
rotor and distribution cap are new
ignition coil is under way
is there an external fuelfilter on this FL 1 1.8 1999? if yes where is it located?;):D

Yes, that should be fine!

Are you getting continuous fuel supply after the engine has cut? Crud could have blocked the fuel line elsewhere. Also good idea to check the ignition too.

If an engine stops like this, it is usually the simple things causing the problem!
 
thanks still waiting for my ignition coil but will put som air trough the fuel lines to see if something comes out
 
ignition coil in problem stays the same.
will try to clean fuel lines in the morning, have to check lines first becaue there is an after market heater installed
 
if this doesn't work I'am afraid it will be the immobiliser so if onyone has an idea how to get the computers cheap let me know please.
 
yes there is a Webasto heater mounted in the car for heating up the engine and interior before you drive of
 
had car over to garage they put it on the computer ECU seems to be broke I'am searcing for a new set now.
will exchange in car and under the bonnet at the sam time ten we will see what happens keep my fingers crossed.
