hi all
I’ve started noticing a knock under my f1 53 plate when changing gears seems worse going up the gears
Any ideas much appreciated
Cheers

Take a look at the rear diff middle mount it may have split and is transferring it through to the gear box, also check the lower engine tie bar mount

Could be a number of things, I've got one of those and it makes a knocking sound too. Could be drop links, or drag links, can't remember what they are called. Or, it could be an unsecure exhaust or dodgy shocks or engine/gearbox mountings. You need to get underneath with a pry bar and start checking for unwanted movement.

What is the best way to check the lower engine tie bar mount ? i have a knock and it is intermittent and bloody hard to find but i do have slight vibration so i am hoping it could be that . I do not want to high jack the thread but @Arctic2 i noticed on one of your pics of your tie bar the top bolt looked a bit of a pain to undo

Lever it with a pry bar or large screwdriver. If you move the engine then release it quickly, it should return to rest without wobbling. Often the bush is so soft, the engine can be wiggled by hand. If that's the case, the bush is shot.;)
