I know this has probably been done to death, but Im new to these parts and havent trawled through the pages as yet.

I have a 2000 Freelander Xdi, and it makes a good awful knocking rattle noise which appears to be coming from somewhere by the OS rear wheel area, it only does it when easing off juice before braking, and when you depress clutch it stops, so if when coming to a junction if I slow down by going down the gears no problem, but if I let it slow down itself all hell breaks lose back there.

It has had a new viscous coupling put on only last week

HELP PLEASE :(

Kinell kinobee, cud be ya diff mount?

and welcome - yu shd be at home here - we have a few intergalactic wierdos.

If that is a no go put it up on jack stands and have somebody get it up to speed and then let off, while you try and pin point the noise. If you use somebody you don't like, like maybe somone from this forum! When they get it up to speed you can kick it off of the stands and call the insurance company;)
