Hi on the way home this morning my p38 developed a loud knocking noise from the drivers side wheel I thought I had a flat at first but not is it the wheel bearings or something worse.

Bearing tend to moan rather than knock. I would look at your bushes- roll bar, panhard rod etc and don't forget the dampers.

Get it up in the air and give every thing a pull and a push. The bit that's loose is your problem. Except for the big round black thing, it's supposed to spin.

Of course if it's a V8 it could be something simple like a rod out the side of the block.

Had a similar problem, moaned and creaked when turning to right. Felt like a wheel was lose. Replacing the anti roll drop links solved the problem.

i was driving alonu once when i heard a "thud thud thud" got out expecting a flat tyre.....umm no just ran over some duck tape and it stuck to the tyre...
morrel of the story, check the basics before thinking the worse!!!:D
