Ok guys i know this has probably been covered elsewhere but just need to pick your brains. When i turn on full lock i get what i would describe as a knocking noise. The car drives fine no noises whatsoever it only happens on full lock.Anyway the reason i ask is the car is going into my mates garage next Saturday and i am hoping it is nothing too major (costly) i'll be happy if is cv joints. What do you think.2004 TD4.Thanks.

Most vehicles first let you know the cv is failing with a knock like that at the front, had to do them both on my alfa recently

Thanks for the replies guys was hoping to hear it could be the cv joint(s) bad enough but can cope with the cost of them.

Hi There.
Thread revival did you get this sorted please and was it the CV joints that cause the knocking cheers Arctic2

It will be CV joints just did my mates replaced the whole front drive shaft easier and cheaper as there is an inner and out a CV joint. 40 quid from island 4x4

I have just had both front driveshafts replaced. I had one OEM one and one cheap one. I had an almighty wobble that made the car awful to drive. We eventually tracked down an OEM one for the offside and now it has been changed everything is nice and smooth.

So in my experience I would not recommend the cheap ones. Mine cost more like £200 each. Now, the mechanic who fitted it said it was alright, but I must be more sensitive as I felt it big time. The business owner understood the problem and sorted it to my satisfaction.
