My freelander has started knocking from what sounds and feels like the drivers side footwell.what could it be.

Would it be the driveshaft mounting or will it need replacing.

does it knock with road speed or just going over bumps?

Just over bumps.speed humps.pot holes.when I'm on motorways it's fine.no kocking at all.once on normal roads it starts.

Would I be best going direct to farnell's.or would any motor shop be able to supply the drop links/lower mount.

Delphi, lemforder or FAI don't buy cheap (you buy twice)

fit them yourself they are easy

try the droplinks first and then investigate the lower mount as this is a rarer cause of knocking

I'm beginning to feel like a poor relation here. My Freelander is getting on for 100K miles, I put it through lots of work, it piles along NZ's many gravel roads/tracks putting the suspension through all sorts of workouts... and still my drop links do not need replacing.

All that and I've pulled all sorts of heavy stuff.... and it hasn't suffered the 'cracked chassis'.

If it weren't for the fact that its sufferred the VCU/IRD self destruction, I'd swear I was sold a duff one!
