Hi all sorry if this has been covered a million times before just wanting some confirmation before i spend more cash!
my dad picked up a 2001 freelander 1.8 3dr as a cheap run about.
more bad points than good but slowly getting there!
anyway has the red brake warning light lit all the time checked the handbrake switch its working ok.
checked the brake fluid level switch its damaged ie plastic cracked but it seems to be working ie when i put a meter across the terminals it was making a circuit and check the lead going to it and geting 12v there with ignition on so my question here is should the fluid level switch be normally open when correct level or normally closed ie can i put a short in to make sure no issue there?
seen all the posts for 3 amigos got 2 of the 3!
ABS and TCS always lit, but HDC green on inital start up then goes out doesnt come back on.
checked all the posts regarid 3 amigos checked its the 3 wire brake switch so ordered a new one so going to change that as a precaution. checked the switch seems ok but to my mind too much movement in brake pedal before the brake lights come on, checked switch and adjusted as per haynes manaul etc still the same so ordereded new switch with harness.
checked the abs sensors with a multimeter checking restistance, what sort of readings should i get? on rears I got about 900 ohms, fronts nothing indicating open circuit yes? So my question here is it normal for 2 sensors to be knackered on the front? and is 900 ohms ok for the rears? am I checking them correctly or doing something wrong before i try and wrestle out the front sensors.
the reluctor rings seem to be intact no breaks
I dont have a code reader so cant check for codes but I imagine if i told my dad to get codes read there should be something to say fault with front sensors?
checked the fuses for the abs unit all ok
have I missed anything obvious?
any help much appreciated
thanks
