Hi!

I have problems with my automatic gearbox.
My car is a Range Rover TD6 -2003.
When I drive car the gently without using the kickdown, it switches
soft and nice at 2500 rpm, but when I use the kickdown
the the engine speed goes to 3000 rpm, and no more, and without switching down
the gear.
Does anyone have any suggestions what might be wrong?

I have been working on a TD6 for a bit with turbo problems and that was doing some weird stuff but mainly limp mode at high revs
I would get your codes read as could be fuel , turbo , transmission .... all or none of the above

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I am a little bit stupid, but this is my first Range Rover.
Can you explain exactly what you mean, and I will be very grateful.
I suppose it has to do with the gear lever in neutral
and read the fault codes?

L322 first rule of thumb for wierd things check battery and alternator output. Less than 12.6v at battery= duff. 14.5v at 2000rpm with everything on = alternator duff

Diag 2, BF 88 000
Diag 3, 92 82 000
Diag 4, 8B 82 000
Diag 5, 8D 90 000

Those codes mean nothing to no-one I would assume - what diagnostics are you using?

HI What should the alternator be putting out at 2000rpm please
 
Somewhere between 14.7 & 14.8 volts with or without lights etc switched on if it's an L322.

Im having an similar issue, I have posted.
2004 LD3 tdv6 battery showing 12.2 and with alt 14.5..
If I change the battery for a new one then the alternator duff can I replace the brushes on the Alt to remedy the issue, if all else is ok.

You can buy an overhaul kit comprising the regulator and brushes for most alternators. However if you have 14.5 volts, bear in mind that a corroded earth strap from engine to chassis or corrosion on other connectoins between alternator and battery can easily drop a few tenths of a volt.
 
Check the voltage at the back of the alternator that may tell you if a bad cable is dropping it.
if you change the battery get the biggest capacity and amp hour and cranking amp will physically fit, we are talking mm clearance .

Then they will only mean something to Land Rover.

You need to get it plugged into diagnostics to read and interpret the fault codes.
